Hey everyone!

On friday I will be playing Bahmanis, the shi'ite muslim sultanate in India, in a multiplayer with about eight others, mostly european powers. I am the only one that chose the east, I thought I would be just expanding my territory untill one day the colonists will come. But I'm getting a bit nervous that I cannot rise up against these Portugese and Spanish. That's why I need some tactics, and that's where I need you!

My goal is to create Hindustan and if I succeed the multiplayer will be a victory for me. I begin as a landlocked, 10 province nation, so I think I should claim some territory first, and on the coast. I will try to ally with the other shi'ites west of me (Gujarat) and attack Orissa in the east. That will give me a few territories and makes my force limit high enough to challenge Vijayanagar in the south. I think it will take about 3 seperate wars, so around 20 years (if I succeed) to annex them. After that I take Ceylon or head north.

I start off with tech on level 2 and 150% tech-cost, that means I need 1500 admin power to get my first national idea slot unlocked. That means with a general ruler (3 admin +1 advisor - 1 MP for being Indian) 500 months of collecting admin power without events or coring. Off coarse I need to core my stuff. So I guess it will take about 50 years to get there. I guess I have about 70 years before the other players show up.

After I unlocked the first Idea slot, I want to fill it with religious ideas. That will give me a casus belli on almost all nations in India (except for Gujarat) and I want to raise it to level 3 so I can take the -25% stability cost. Maybe you've guessed it here, but I want to start westernizing as soon as the Portuguese or Spanish land. I expect them, as I said, in about 1510. I hope they will fight eachother, but I guess that will not happen. the level 3 religious idea cost 1200 AMP and stability raising costs 300. That means I need about 100 years from the start of the game to actually be ready to westernize. If I have some crazy ruler, it can be worse of far better.

So my idea, when the Europeans show up and declare war on me, is to fight them (what I probably gonna lose), give them one province, have a truce for 5 years, start aiding rebels in that province (it might work), and hope I'm ready to westernize by then. This will take about 15 years, I guess and I hope I have a sustainable income to hire a level 3 advisor for admin to boost the stability. So after 2 wars I will be able to fight back and perhaps push them off the subcontinent?

Or I could not westernize, but slowly be lagging behind more and more, only mapower can save me there.

In short: I need to be ready by 1510 with my ideas so I can lower stability cost so I can westernize when the Europeans arrive. That will take, in general, about 100 years, so 1544, plus I need to hold out for around 15 years when they have arrived.

Does anyone have any tactics for me how I can play this right? Should I, or should I not westernize? Will I be able to survive? I would gladly accept some help from the community :D

My sources are the dev diaries, the video of quill18 on Bahmanis and a EU wikipedia page about techgroups.
