Does anyone have any suggestions on how to make Multiplayer stable? We have yet to get a MP game working for more than a couple of years. We have tried for over nine months to get one going on both EU 1 and now EU 2. Any suggestions welcome. thanks.

Let it be said that the stability of your own computer really makes a big difference in playing an online game. So making sure your computer is running very well and stable is critical.

56kmodems work, but they are very slow and dont fare well in mp games for long. Especially if you have a unstable phone line or server.

i have a 1.3hz 256ram computer with winme and no alterations of anykind just out of the box. the computer runs flawlessly in multiplayer, however i did remove all (i literally mean all) programs from working in the background while i play. so do a cntrl alt delete and end task on all things except explorer and maybe systray.

My 433hz 96ram computer runs much slower than the above computer yet has the same cable modem line. the game is sluggish online but thats due to computer speed only. this computer is more unstable also having crashed and lagged several times but generally keeps up.

now you dont have to go out and buy the latest computer to play online. You do have to prepare your computer for demanding online play though. Make sure you save your games yearly and be patient if you have slow computers or connections. that is just the way of things at this time.

i have discovered that you do not have to have the slowest computer host the game, infact that is more unstable. use the fastest machine to host but play at slow speeds such as 1min/2mo or even 1/1 . excessive lagging is a product of someone having an unstable system not a slow connect.
