I dont understand how one can play graphic intense game such as warcraft with no problem multiplayer, but i can never seem to get a game working with multiplayer with Hearts of Iron 2 Doomsday.

They entire multiplayer frame work for this game sucks. There is always a router issue, or a current version issue, even though they match on the screen.

Furthermore, if i ever do get blessed to join a multiplayer game, it is always gittering or freezes up.

And dont tell me its a problem with my computer or internet connection. When i can play every other game fine multiplayer, Civilization 4, Warcraft, Doom, etc...Its always Hearts of Iron that has problems.

Also, i am not the only one complaining about this. When ever i enter a multiplayer forum, you always see the same people, because they either have to reboot, or they can never get a connection.

Please Paradox, before you release EU 3, work on the multiplayer aspect. All your genre games that have the same platform never work.

Thanks.

Paradox have always had this problem, they had it many years before doomsday came out and didn't fix it, so I am very sure they havn't fixed it in EU3 either... :(
I have to disconnect my roiter before I play, it works for me but takes about 15min.

I highly suspect theyre underpaying their programmers to do their networking code. Thar or they are over paying them.

From what I understand, the networking aspect is based on Microsoft's direct play engine. The router issue is a problem with direct play apparently so they can't do much about it except overhaul the network code, or at least thats what I read somewhere. However there is still a plethora of multiplayer errors and crash bugs that plague the game ruining the entire game atmosphere, it would be really nice if they could fix those. The multiplayer of the game (when it works) is quite alot of fun so its a real shame that they have ignored many of these problems for so long.

FYI I have a router and the game works fine, I manually forwarded some of the ports and I can join most games. Hosting doesn't seem to be working properly but I doubt my connection can handle hosting so I didn't bother to try to fix it.

People need to have the newest comp and stable internet connection to play paradox's games without problems.
It's clear that it isn't normal for games wich exist since many years,it seems this kind of game is for strong comp's configuration.....
I only solved my issues by having one expensive computer....

You're kidding right ? Hoi2 has about as much hardware requirements as solitare :p.....not really but it really doesn't need any expensive comps. You could run it pretty well on a p3, and I've seen that happen.

Yeah I started playing to hoi2 with an old comp but in mp the game seems to take long time to connect and you have issues after few hours.
Since the time i changed the processor for a new one i do not have problems now.
The power of your processor and your connection speed change lots of things.I know the people who drop always are those who has got low processor or low connection speed or the both.
Since i changed it my conn speed changed too.

I dont understand how one can play graphic intense game such as warcraft with no problem multiplayer,

Graphics are done by your local computer; no networking needs to happen to have good graphics. Hearts of Iron, however, is way heavier on bandwidth usage; simply put, there are a hella lot of bits that get shifted every gameplay hour. By comparison, WoW is a lot like Solitaire.

Never ever had a problem playing Multiplayer, few modem settings to change, few crashes here and there. No Big deal, get over it. You should be shot for comparing HOI to WOW, the engine for Paradox games makes wow look like a preschoolers game (o wait it is).

Great first post you got there, next time why dont you try asking for help and giving some specs so others might try and help you. Simple problem is that you havnt got something setup correctly or your modem/router eats turd if your having so much trouble playing Multiplayer.

This thread sux.

all you need to do is find a good group of players that

1) are on time
2) dont crash all the time
3) behave according to rules
4) are patient :D

There are a number of groups like this that have been playing for years every week. Like our sunday MEM mod group, like the monday group, the aussie's and a few more that one can find in these or other forum boards.

Absolutely! The War Plan Orange group (NA West Coast) has been playing almost flawlessly and having great fun for nearly six months now, and will continue for the forseeable future.
