While waiting for the release of the english version, here goes a few multiplayer questions for those who already have the game:
1) How long a typical multiplayer game takes?
2) What is the best number of human players in a mp game?
3) Is it possible for humans to control more than 1 major power (so as to avoid the cp to control a major power)?
4) Is there any kind of 'cheat' possible in a mp game that cannot be detected by other humans? (hopefully not)

Please comment on anything else you think is relevant for someone who does not have the game (yet) but wants to play a mp game.

TIA

1) This depends on a lot of factors. Could be anything from an hour to a few weeks, depending on speed and scenario.

2) I always think, the more the merrier. ie. 8 if you can get 8.

3) Nopes

4) Nopes, cheating is completely disabled in MP games.

I was all over the time issue when I arrived. It's critical! If a game takes 30 hours how can you play it multiplayer. The good news is there is a save function so you can continue play later. You can change the ratio of real time: game time from 5 minutes = 1 month to 1 minute = 2 years (I think those are the right numbers). So that's a factor of over 100 in time scale. So if you play a 50 year scenario it could take you from 25 minutes to 50 hours. I get the idea that the faster the game the more bandwidth hungry it will be. Players have had some success with 7 players where one had a dial up connection and the other were on faster connections. The game does demand a lot of bandwidth.

From what others have said, a reasonable time frame is 2 minutes = one month.

1) you can decide timefram of game from 5 minutes=1 month to 1 minute=8 months, default is 1 minute=1 month. so take out your pocketcalculator!

2) ah, max is 8, but from my experience max is 2. wait for the next patch that hopefully will adress this issue. takes a lot of bandwith, we played on a 100mb Fast Ethernet LAN only with trouble.

3)well, not directly. But you could edit the scenariofiles... ;)

4)not as far as i know.

I agree: for now, above 2 seems to be VERY difficult. I hope it will be patched soon.

I fully agree with laurent.

Another serious issue is the chat box ... actually, the lack of chat box , messages are displayed on the upper left part of the screen and remains 5 seconds maxi !

Messages should be displayed in the lower right message box and be PERMANENTLY DISPLAYED during the whole game session like normal messages. This flaw leads to miss lots of messages from other players !

so 2 urgent fixes are necessary:
- game stability with up to 8 players
- a decent chat box

Can we expect changes soon ??? for the time being, I can just consider the game like nearly unplayable and I feel like beta testing a game I paid the regular price ! ouch that hurts !

so please paradox, give a quick answer to your custumers !~ :)
