Does anyone know what kind of focus their is from paradox on keeping the multiplayer community as a whole for HOI4? Will it split up after each small expansion untill it is too splintered to actually find any players at all?

Games like companies of heroes focus on making it so that even people with expansions can play together with people without expansions, with great succes for their multiplayer community

Many strategy games have been lacking this as they have been focussed on single player packages and the multiplayer being a boost to it.

I m guessing this is quite impossible for Hoi4?

Assuming HoI IV works the same as EUIV and CKII all players in MP will have the same DLCs active as the host during the MP game.

The way the few recent Paradox games have worked in this regard have actually been really cool. Basically, expansions don't change the checksum. Patches do. So, as long as both players have the same patch (which they usually do anyways), they will be able to connect together, even if one player has a DLC and the other doesn't.
