Multiplayer issue (1.8.3 b3cd)

Hello,

Last night friend and I ran into a problem - we were unable to start a multiplayer game.

First situation:
He bought a game via Steam (just like me), lacking only DLCs. I have all DLCs available.
I host a game, he joins, species picked - when we start, I wait ingame for him to connect which never happens, while he still sits in game lobby.

Second situation:
He purchases all 3 DLCs, game hosted with same results.

Third situation:
A game is hosted by my friend - I cannot select a custom made species. When I do that, it doesnt show me what I selected and cannot type in lobby chat.


We managed to start game once with me selecting random species.
Also checked if those custom species are eligible for play, all was fine.


Can you please advise if we are missing out something?

So far as I know DLC ownership should make no difference, as only the host's DLCs are considered.

I'd suggest that both of you check that all the required Steam ports are open in all firewalls:
