Multiplayer Host Issue

Hey, I have a problem w/ multiplayer and nothing helps. We are both on 2 0 4 Beta and use the same mods

I tried portforwarding and all kinds of connecting (Steam/Invite/ID)

It always ends with "There may be a firewall issue" for my friend, although we both have Stellaris enabled in Firewall

I have all DLCs and he has none, but even with all turned off it still doesnt work. We have the same mods, and it works when I join his game, but then we dont get to enjoy the DLC stuff.

The ports I portforwarded are 17780,17781,17782,17783,17784,17785 as recommended by the Paradox support web

It still doesn't work, please help, I'm getting desperate.

Did you and your friend try disabling your firewall just the time to run a test ?

Hey Normalguy,

Can you and your friend start by both doing a clean install of the game:
- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-Stellaris
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/Stellaris AND Documents/Paradox/Stellaris folders
- Uninstall any third-party anti virus program
- Restart computer
- Ensure no processes are running from the anti-virus program
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- start the game with no mods active and test
- You may now reinstall your anti-virus program

In particular you need to make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam Stellaris or Documents Stellaris locations, before installing again.

Once you have both done that try playing MP without any mods enabled to see if you are able to connect over vanilla

Lastly make sure all players have opened the required Steam ports in all their active firewalls (each player may have up to 3).

Just to clarify, make sure you open the port and not portforward it. These are two separate actions.

Thanks for all suggestions, but it works now but thanks for your time though. For future people trying to find a solution: Try portforwarding UDP ports 17780,17781,17782,17783,17784 and 17785, then I just rebooted and it worked..
