mulitplayer does not work

Hello!
my problem is that i won't get EU to work in multiplayer.
i installed eu and HOI on both computers and when i open a game the other computer can't find it.
"no game found at ip adress" it says on internet play (IP adress) after it waited a bit.
it also doesn't work over IPX protocol.
and i got exactly the same problem in HOI.

i just reinstalled the network protocols - didn't work.
i also turned off my firewall (zonealarm)

does anyone have any suggestions what i could try?

thanks for your reply.
i already took a look at the router configuration and modified it so that i can play in the internet.
however, the problem that i have occurs in LAN game.
it doesnt work using IPX and not using TCPIP.
it might be a problem in the LAN configuration.

but i will reinstall my windows soon anyways.

I found when I setup my mini-LAN that only one of the two computers could host and have the other computer recognize that it was hosting a game. Fun, fun
