There is a setting that disallows advanced empires to spawn as direct neighbors, maybe that should also apply to MSI.

Currently in a game where MSI is literally the only direct neighbor I have. The other direction is wide open and I found 4 gaia worlds there (literally a quarter of the habitables I've found so far is uninhabited gaia worlds) Let's just say I am a bit miffed that the fate of this awesome start depends entirely on the whims of my neighbor.

Fair request. Many of the streamers had complaints of being either too close or too far away. It shouldn't be that hard to guarantee a medial distance from them...
