Should I feel any sense of achievement when reaching these milestones? Because from what the game indicates to me these mean nothing as they increase. I realise they have background effects on missions, hiring and the like but there is absolutely no credence given to these.

There's no fanfare, there's no visible impact, no one gives me a pat on the back or mentions them at all. Surely I should be given some sense of accomplishment at having reached these new heights?

Come on, HBS, make me feel at least vaguely invested. God, even just a pop up or a dining bell, but no, a new one just pops up and everyone goes on with their lives like nothing happened.

Your MRB rating does have an effect on your company, but it’s somewhat subtle. I’m sure you’ve noticed that some pilots won’t sign on with you unless you have enough rating, but your MRB rating also affects the payouts and available salvage rights when negotiating a contract. Basically, the higher your MRB, the higher the potential cash payout and salvage available. This is also modified by your faction rep. It’s also pretty much how your rating worked if you were using it in classic BT if memory serves.

Yes, I mentioned that I was aware of those impacts. I'm talking about the actual direct feedback on it from the game rather the underlying effects.

There is none. What more would you want? All the MRB ever did was provide a scale by which you could measure different mercenary companies.

Besides, you’re a merc, not a carnival show. They ain’t got time for fancy birthday parties and things like showers and fine dining. Blood and bone, baby!

I typed that in pirate voice and now that’s how you’re reading it. You’re welcome.

What do I want...? See above.

I want to feel like I am actually reaching a milestone of some sort. I want the MRB to give me a muffin basket or something at least.

Without any kind of feedback from the tasks being performed it's just monotonous repetition. I need some sense of progression in a game. That is hardly a big thing to ask for, it is an inherent aspect of most games.

Just have Darius pull me aside to tell me what is now possible given my new rating or some nonsense. Put some game back in the game.

Well, to each their own I guess.

I just like getting paid more to shove gauss slugs in mech faces. That’s incentive enough for me.

For what it’s worth, I hope you get what you’re looking for, but I don’t see it happening for a while. And I don’t see it being a dev thing either. It’ll likely be a 3rd party mod.

Incidentally, there is a lot of chatter on the mod forums and reddit about adding more events and crew chatter, so it’s out there in the ether at least.

The Mechwarrior Review Board system was designed for potential clients to be able to hire mechwarriors of varying skill level for jobs and allowed the mercwarriors to collect checks or file grievances if wronged, think of it as Uber but with mechs. The MRB rating indicates the overall quality/level of each company of mechwarriors and I think it should show more in the group.

For each star you have under your MRB rating should add 10% to the agreed C-Bill payment or you get to add +1 to your base salvage. Example you pick 1/4 salvage which could be 1/5, but with 1 star for MRB rating, it could turn it into a 2/5 if you preferred salvage over C-Bills. But having a 3 star MRB rating would turn it into a 4/5 so it does not increase the total amount, only the first pick.

The reason I am suggesting this is because that MRB rating should mean ALOT because having a low score of 1 means you are not known vs the company with a rating of 4 is known for getting the job done so high ranked company's should get more benefits.

I was bummed finding out that there is no way to bump the amount of rep you get in boosting your MRB. It is literally a grind to get it maxed out, meanwhile, you can max out your rep with whatever faction you're working for in no time at all if you wanted.

But MRB? Just keep on truckin' along...

Well, indeed, and after all that grinding, hour after hour, mission after mission... *tick* one more star...

Great.

Thinking about it, is the MRB rating that affects what difficulty of missions you get? Or is that based on faction rep? Like if your rep is low with one faction but in that particular system, but that faction is the ONLY one around to take missions from, does your MRB even affect higher difficulty (and higher paying...) missions with that faction? Or is MRB hollow in itself except for hiring other mercs? If that's the case, that almost seems non-sensical because by the time you even think about wanting to hire the higher level pilots, your own pilots are probably well surpassed them. At least in my experience so far, that's the case.

In another thread (about being outnumbered all the time) people are saying "drop your MRB rating and the missions will be easier."

Does anyone actually exactly know what MRB rating does?

A pop-up when the rating increases would be nice. Just a little message, maybe Darius says something about how this will "increase how much clients are willing to pay us and make us more attractive to new mechwarriors looking for a company." Could have an official MRB congratulations message. Nothing fancy, just something to acknowledge the level up. Would also be nice to add for the faction reputations. Give a conversation with the faction rep when your reputation level changes. A little fluff to fill out who they are.
