Jarkko Suvinen said:They don't interact with other people. Why play MP if you are just interested in playing a solo-game in MP enviroment? Hypertechers provide nothing but frustration to the other players.
arcorelli said:Not sure about that. The game I hyperteched the most -Portugal in some Unleashed-, I think I was in only one player war all game (and that was kind of disappointing, since I wanted to finish the game without any war). The thing is, it was a very active game in diplomatic terms: managing England and NL against each other means a lot of diplomatic work. Not a solo game under any circumstances.
FAL said:Not to be rude, but I would damn sure prefer a Portugal that does wage wars more over a Portugal that does not. Even if it's a Portugal that interacts a lot with people. Waging war is the best form of interaction![]()

Jarkko Suvinen said:Oh no, the fundamental thing you miss here is that if you lose the economic race during the first decades, you will never be as strong economically. So a game rewarding hypertechers will result in the players hyperteching as mad, and if some fool wages wars and destroys his chances in the game, so may he do. Besides, with a much stronger economy you have nothing to fear from a moron not hyperteching too; they can't win because they have to recruit troops (you can buy mercs) which result in WE going up which means his income will drop even more (a smart move in a game counting only income, eh?).

Is it about starting "MP tournaments"? - No!
Is it about rating MP players? - YES!

Wyvern said:It really is harder and harder these days to say who is best in any particular field. Damocles was a great warlord but lacked in diplomacy, but these days I think there are lots of players up to his standards and even in the old days players like RedPhoenix were just as good.
Archduke in my experience is definately the most devious, Peter E. the best allround player (and perhaps the best diplomat). Barnius is also a great diplomat, or at least a very fun one to deal with, and a very good economist too - he's just too peaceful though!
It's a fun thread to read but really impossible to come up with clear winners in any fields.
Count Drew said:One Comment on Hyperteching:
It's only possible in an enviroment with no competition. War cuts hyperteching, War settles the monotous boredom of Session in...Session out... War is the flavor of Eu2, and without it you mine as well play Civ3 set for Economic & Culture Victory and goto sleep
Now as far as using Tech/Trade/VPs as a means to an Endsquite a different story. I tell you, any of you hypertechers or Economic fellows want to, I'll give you France and I'll take Austria and I'll Vassalize you and take half your income while you're trying to hit Trade 8 and I'm at Land Tech 18 vs your LT 10
That's just it, people don't understand that War must balance, Aggression is good and that pure 100% Economic Players bunched like Panties will only make a slow paced Napoleonic Race.....That's why these games seem so predictable.. Anyone played with me, knows I'm Aiming to hit your Arse b4 you ever touch the higher Infras and Trade Techs. I'll take half your land in that time and cash in on the Tax and nearly match your Infra-Trade and still have a LT advantage...get my Allies HyperTechers to take your CoTs... See the glory of Mixing the proper amount of War/Politics/Economics... a Truly balanced King of the Game
Who is that FellaHell lately there are several

*King John. He's at his best for limited scale warfare, especially when he can use a fleet to maneuver his armies in position and choose his battles. Very good at micro-managing a war.
At least im mentioned...thats something...i think ...azid said:well i think we need to give out an ETERNAL N00B prize! imo it's quite clear who it should go to..
Seen!
then i have some heroes i always have fun with!
Hive (great player =) )
Arcorelli (A great man who lives far away)
Devil ( economical mastermind? )
Fredrik (a good host so i have to mention him...)
I have only played with these guys a few times but they are very vital for the EU2 community IMO .
Er. They're just winding him up Dago, because he insists on still calling himself a newbie.Dago said:i ve played with Seen, anyway

and then,is very bad to judge others ppl in this manner
i thought people play for fun,not for skills or glory

I remeber that little manuever. I was supporting the French and Swedish Factions in that War at least in principle. I was shocked about how get ran off that little Island with a couple thousand cav as well with his Star Qtr BackDuma said:You know what was scary to see. When I was invaded by John as England, John as France and Dyno as Sweden. I was able to crush the invasion force, and force John to retreat out of England. I thought I caught Villiar's on the English coast, but without pausing, John was able to split his army up and have a small cavalry unit under Villiar's retreat to some waiting ship's and then escape to the French coast. I ended up wiping out that French army with Vauban in it, but I was shocked to realize that Villiar's lived. That is some unbelievable micro-managing and John regularly does this in any war's he's in. He will keep his cavalry in reserve split up so his infantry will absorb the fire phase and then he would unleash his cavalry linking up with his infantry and hit the enemy army with them during the shock phase.
How many player's do you know who will micro their war's like this? Not many I would hazzard.
