Since upgrading to Windows 8 multiplayer games of CK2 crash after pressing start. Have used compat mode, admin mode, and have deleted local content and reinstalled the whole game. Have all the firewall ports open still on the firewall of the internet gateway (using DMZ mode even) and have created pinholes for the port blocks (both tcp/udp and tcp) Worked fine until I loaded Windows 8. (which is its own discussion at times.)
I feel it may be firewall related for which ever ports are used once game is started and maps etc are set up. The players can connect (or I can if vise-versa) and use ruler config etc and other pre-start setup but once hit start...it almost immediately crashes on my end.
Any additional clues or identify which specific ports are used for that phase after Start is hit to set the game up?
