Hello,

This could possibly be a bug (I will report it if it is). I am playing a game which I started before the new patch, so possibly caused by this?

In short, I created Kingdom of Israel with Jerusalem as the capital, which I then lost due to dreaded gavelkind. Once I regained Jerusalem, I thought I could make it capital.

When I hover over the icon, it says something like 'Cannot change capital for X amount of months, unless moving to traditional capital of Jerusalem' - but the option for me to do so is still greyed out, even though I am trying to make it the traditional capital. I am at peace and all de jure counties of Duchy of Jerusalem are in my demesne.

Is this a bug not letting me change capital?

Thanks!

No...I was nomad Khazar, conquered Jerusalem, settled as feudal there with it as my capital, my primary title being 'Empire of Jerusalem'. The capital only moved when Jerusalem was lost due to gavelkind, and won't let me move it back to the traditional capital even though Jerusalem is still listed as the 'traditional capital'.

The 'Empire of Jerusalem' doesn't appear to be an in-game empire (see CK2 Wiki link), unless it's a custom empire you created? I'm uncertain if Custom Empires are coded to have traditional capitals. Custom kingdoms and empires were part of the Charlemagne expansion, so maybe check in the files for that DLC?

EDIT: never mind, looks like I misread the Horse Lords bit near the top of the wiki. It looks like it's a Titular Empire created when you settle, that's named after your capital. If Jerusalem isn't the traditional capital of the Titular empire named after it, that does indeed seem like a bug.

Thanks. It might just be because of the route I took - nomad, already with several king-level vassals before I settled, then I settled as feudal in Jerusalem but became emperor /khagan by default, so I suppose it is a 'custom' Empire in that sense (the title was created as soon as I settled as feudal), but the game still says that Jerusalem is the 'traditional capital' (i.e. the capital when the Empire was founded) so I'm not sure.

The issue is still continuing, which is quite annoying. I have filed a bug report with screenshot.

Is there any console command or mod which will let me change capital easily?

it might be due to the jerusalem kingdom having a whole ton of exceptions when it comes to dejure changes/flags due to being the crusade placeholder?

i know that jerusalem causes hell in any game i have that makes it to the middle east, whether the dejure kingdom gets formed or not.

have just started giving all the land to a jewish duke to form israel in undo all the flags, then killing him off so territory can dejure drift and be dynamic

Thanks. I'm not so sure though, the current ruler from the screenshot inherited Jerusalem, he already had the Kingdom of Georgia title, which put the capital in Georgia and doesn't let me move it back to Jerusalem as you can see. I will see what happens when this ruler dies, hmm...

Going by the screenshot the county of Jerusalem, and thus the duchy, is still de-jure standard Kingdom of Jerusalem, thus you got no standard capital for the custom title either.

As has been said before , likely a special case too, as Jersualem can't drift.

edit: sorry, forgot you got an empire title as primary, not a kingdom, but the former in turn is titular anyway, so...

This. You don't have a traditional capital. I'm pretty sure the timer is tied to the character and not to the player.

Thanks for the clarification. I had assumed Jerusalem was the 'traditional' capital due to settling there, but it seems that 'traditional' here means for de jure Kingdom of Jerusalem/Israel? Whereas I created Kingdom of Israel after settling and already controlling Jerusalem.

I ended up using the console command 'clr_moved_capital' (even though I dislike using commands) which allowed me to move it back to Jerusalem because it seems a bit strange that the capital for 'Empire of Jerusalem' moves with every new heir depending on their other kingdom titles.

1) Where do you get this "tradiitonal" info ? What matters is the mentioning of a capital in the tooltip for a county, while the player is on the dejure kingdoms map mode.
Whereas I created Kingdom of Israel after settling and already controlling Jerusalem.

2) Don't get how Israel matters here, when you appear to hold a titular Jerusalem empire title as primary title.

3) On moving capital outside the dejure capital province, if the character you became had already moved his capital,
then you won't be able to move again, even if it was the AI that did.

In the screenshot I posted on the mouse over of the move capital icon it says:

'Khagan Yerneslu is not allowed to move the capital again in 527 months - unless it's back to the traditional capital of Jerusalem'.

I am just using 'traditional' the way the game is. It seems to imply that I can move it back to Jerusalem which the game calls the ''traditional capital" but the icon is greyed out.

Ah right, there.
Well, your Jerusalem title has no 'traditional' capital, as it's a titular title.

You could post the de-jure empire mode map if you like, but i'd be surprised if it would be different to what i think.

Ah ok, thanks - so the mouse over info is not valid because it's a titular empire?

Here is a screenshot of de Jure Empires map mode hovering over Jerusalem. I've noticed it also says Khanate of Israel is 'becoming independent' - I'm not too sure what that means either?

Also, I cannot destroy my kingdom titles as it says succession must not be gavelkind, despite me having changed the succession to seniority for the ones I wanted to destroy.

Ah ok, thanks - so the mouse over info is not valid because it's a titular empire?

It's not invalid. There just is no traditional capital for this title.

It's a standard text filled with your name, conditions and your title. That's all.
What it looks like in the file
Code:
RULER_HAS_MOVED_CAPITAL_RECENTLY;§Y[GetTitledFirstName]§! is not allowed to move the capital again in $MONTHS$ months - unless it's back to the traditional capital of [PrimaryTitle.GetName]....

Here is a screenshot of de Jure Empires map mode hovering over Jerusalem. I've noticed it also says Khanate of Israel is 'becoming independent' - I'm not too sure what that means either?

It says "becoming independent, de jure, ...". So the title gets de-jure territory associated with it and takes it from the de-jure Arabian Empire .
See https://ck2.paradoxwikis.com/De_jure#De_jure_drift

Also, I cannot destroy my kingdom titles as it says succession must not be gavelkind, despite me having changed the succession to seniority for the ones I wanted to destroy.

I think your primary title must not be gavelkind either or something. Not sure. Somethingsomething. Hard to say.
