Movement lock should be cancelled at the end of a battle

It seems a bit strange to me that two armies might be marching towards each other, both movement locked, and then when their battle is over the winner (assuming the winner was the defender in the battle) continues his movement into the now empty enemy province and is locked onto that move.

Surely it would make more sense to have the movement lock cancel at the end of the battle to give the player or the AI a chance to issue new orders on the basis that the battle has changed the priorities for the unit?

I don't think it's about "priorities" but about modelling distance traveled. When a unit is movement-locked, they are considered to be somewhere between the midpoint of both the starting province and the ending province, and thus letting them stop in either one without more travel is a little gamey. So if you're movement locked and have a battle in a province somewhere on the border to the next province, unless you're having a very strange fight you're not going to end up 50 miles back the way you came; you're still in that spot between "here" and "there".

Of course, it's a bit silly and abstract either way, and I like the idea as it seems more realistic and fun. But it does clash with the paradigm.
