It can take nearly that long when Steam has a Summer Sale - so everyone is used to that :laugh:
It doesn't really matter where Steam is. The game releases on 13:00 UTC exactly, worldwide. So 15:00 for me

To make PDS games release in Australia first, you have to make sure Australia is their biggest market. The launch has nothing do with the location of Steam or Paradox. It launches at 9 o'clock in the morning in the eastern part of the USA, simply because the largest portion of EU players is from there (not necessarily on the forums though). Valve's located three hours before that, so for them it launches at 6 o'clock in the morning. At Paradox's headquarters it launches at 3 o'clock in the afternoon.
Our internet isn't that bad. It's just the latency. Anyway in my experience Steam has local hosts/servers almost everywhere, from which to download. We just need to move the offices of Steam here.
Better yet, we could convince Americans not to have such a silly day to release games on. Tuesday is so inconvenient. On the other hand maybe I'm just biased by the fact that I come from one of the few nations that has worked out that it is easier for people to vote in elections if you make them on Saturdays

That would be such a great service to the world. I knew there was something useful about that place
. It being in US is worst possible place, most of the whole world gets it late apart from Americas in which it comes on time (or near). If in AUS most of world early 
Luckily I am a football fan and have a new season starting that I can look forward to - not that ashes debacle. Then again, I'm old enough to know these things come in cycles, I remember when England used to crash like that (and I can never actually lose, having been born in the UK - I have a soft spot for both teams).
Oh, and to translate for some of our mates in other countries - Atlantic is rubbing our noses in the fact that England is thrashing Australia in the cricket - having remembered how to play the game they invented after Australia spent decades dishing it out to them
