Mouse slows down and then freezes

Just installed the game on a P51 lenovo workstation. I am using the trackpad.

The game runs happily along and I start a map.

I create a road and then my mouse starts becomming unresponsive and after a few minutes it freezes completely. Funny enough, if I alt+tab out of the game, the mouse is still froozen in all other windows apps.
After a hard kill (alt+f4) of the game window, my mouse returns to me.

I've attached some of the required files, dxdiag and app log
