mouse pointer is not showing up

Hi,
I have just tried to install HOI1 on a very new system. 2.8 gig overclocked, 9 gig RAM, 8 meg cache. Alienware Aurora. and the mouse pointer arrow doesn't show up on the opening menu. Has anyone seen this problem before? Is there a solution?
The same problem occurred when I installed Victoria1.

Are you using any compability mode? Full-screen (default) or windowed (by modding)? Can you click on buttons with the invisible cursor, or is it all gone?

I can see the mouse arrow at the very top of the screen, but it becomes invisible when I move it down. The invisible arrow can still click on icons though.
The screen is the way it was when I bought it. I've changed no settings whatsoever.

By the sounds of it the arrow remains invisible even when you have clicked away from the first screen.

A bit odd that it should appear by the borders.
But try right-clicking on the executable and change compability settings for it to run in Win95 mode?
