Historically you hear stories like "and then king awesome stood on a mountain and defeated an army twice his army's size". Well I just failed to inflict any casualties on an enemy twice my size and lost most of my army. Cool.
Maybe your ruler was overconfident, thinking himself invincible because he was on a mountain, and didn't take proper defensive precautions. Hubris, man.
I just wish being a highland ruler actually meant something.
You need to make sure your left and right flanks have enough troops, if one of the flanks collapses than your center is going to get torn up FAST, for that reason, you will want your best martial character on your strongest flank so you can tear through the enemy armys flank and get into their center.
I think it will be different once you get some tactics technology, and heavy cavalry probably has some kind of amazing bonus , but in the early game you really have to micromanage your flanks.
I don't know how to move generals around
Problem atm I think is that combat modifiers do very little except the only important one wich is army size. I have lost fight where my force was the bigger of the two but only when the disparity was small. Dont expect another Agincourt in the game.
