Madcats were never Unseen, they are just clan tech.

But Warhammers and Marauders for everyone! Probably not time to squeeze them in before the 24th though.

Also PGI has deeper pockets and a "Come at me Bro!" legal strategy, so if HG was going to get any blood out of this stone it would probably have been from HBS.

Remember the Art that HBS is using for mechs is PGI assets, the assets are still in question. This does not (i'm fairly certain) let HBS include these units, only takes them out of the case, happily.

As others have said, this does NOT allow the unseen mechs into this game. PGI has the models for those, and PGI can't use them or provide them to HBS until THEIR lawsuit with HG goes away. As the video up top points out, that could be months (or years) away (if at all).

True. However, this judge seems to be moving quite rapidly given Harmony Gold should have had their ducks in a row with regard to their copyright claim. It's the plaintiff's responsibility to have full chain of custody as to who holds what rights. HG doesn't have that, and is now trying to inject other arguments not made previously into arguments now. I'm hoping that PGI's case gets dismissed with prejudice for the same reasons as Harebrained Schemes case just did. Because it's becoming more apparent that HG don't hold the rights to designs they think they do, as evidenced by the prior Japanese ruling.

I still can't believe this overall copyright nonsense has been going on for two and a half decades. Sheesh.

There's a lot to dislike MWO for, mainly trying to turn mechwarrior into world of mechs. But, if PGI wins their lawsuit, they'll have done the battletech community the greatest solid that has been done in 30 years.

And that's something to praise them for, their willingness to actually fight the good fight (with the preponderance of the law on their side) and not to just go into a supine posture and say "thank you sir, can I have another?!"

To those here who can't understand how this nonsense keeps dragging out for decades, THIS is how. When companies are cowardly, they don't fight. If they don't fight, courts can't find in their favor.

No - the lawsuit that was dismissed was against HBS. HBS doesn't yet have the models for the unseen mechs. Those were going to come from PGI, PGI is still under lawsuit over the issue and can't give them to HBS until their lawsuit is concluded. This does increase the likelihood that PGI may eventually win their battle with HG, but that could still take months or even years to sort out.

not exactly, HBS is off the hook as long as they do not use unseen mechs. The lawsuit is still rolling against PIranha for the time being, and although its losing steam, if HBS all of a sudden started using the contested designs that could cause trouble, it would be smart for them to leave it alone for now.

Without prejudice.

Incorrect. It would be a dismissal without prejudice.
