So what does that mean? That they simply delayed any action, dragging the battle on? Or is it actually gunna be over?
HG had "John Does" 1-10 listed in case they found additional parties they wanted to file the same suit against. Since they found no other parties by the judge-imposed deadline they "released" the placeholders. So it's no closer to being concluded in the sense of HG vs PGI, this just removed their ability to drag others into it without starting a new lawsuit.

As far as Harmony Gold goes, their law suit just got dismissed “with prejudice”, meaning they can’t ever bring it up again for any reason or with any other client. They basically had no grounds for a suit and he judge put the hammer down. So what was once unseen shall be seen again, it’s just a matter of when and how.
Just wanted to clarify, that that's not what the dismissal of the lawsuit actually said.

The lawsuit against HBS didn't involve the Warhammer, etc. HG was claiming that several of the mechs currently in the game were infringing; that's the part that was dropped with prejudice. The dismissal has no bearing on the Unseen that are currently not in the game. The lawsuit against PGI deals with those mechs, and until that is settled (and PGI wins), HBS can't add them in without being potentially sued again.

Rubi is right; HBS and HG settled first (the details of that settlement are private). The judge "dismissed" it because they settled, not because HBS "won" the case. We don't know what HBS agreed with to get HG to sign off on the settlement "with prejudice", but knowing HG, that's something that honestly has me worried. To that point, the result of that case does not equate to "okay now we get to have all the unseens back". All the Macross designs are still very much in limbo at the moment. If PGI wins their case, then maybe things will change, but a lot of pieces need to fall into place before any real change happens. Do we even know for certain if Studio Nue/Big West are cool with Battletech reviving the Unseen designs that borrow from Macross? I don't think HBS & PGI are eager to test the limits of that relationship. Frankly, I would be happy with the so called "Reseens" of the old Macross designs if it meant we didn't have to worry about this anymore.

Regardless, it's completely off topic to this conversation.

And CGL I think. They were already dragged into this I believe, and unless I missed something their part of the case wasn't dismissed in any way. In fact I believe I read somewhere they didn't reply in any form thus far, and just wait for the outcome of what PGI is trying to do?

CGL defaulted. They need PGI to win with the motion that HG lacked standing, because otherwise even if PGI wins on the merits of fact, CGL could be hosed, unless CGL was just using PGI's models, in which case they'd plead for a chance to respond with the new rulings.

Ah, than I misunderstood and/or got my hopes up. Regardless, it’s something the vast majority of the community wants, which is very much within the scope of this thread. It just may be that the mod community gets around to it before HG untwists their collective panties. So again, it’s not a matter of if, but how and when.

In other words...

"Journal Entry: Day 962 on the Eastern Front. Quiet this past week, the enemy fired a few rounds which completely annihilated a tree in some poor Yiddish farmers grove, other than that no harm done. We hear rumors that they may be running out of ammunition and this latest series of shots points that their intelligence may be compromised too. Time will tell. On the bright side the constipation that we all suffered for what seems like a lifetime has finally let up and we all have some relief, the fellas in Delta squad have spent all this month running around like big stompy robots! Spirits are High with anticipation of a victory"

Well, in this case, the “Romans” have single handedly ensured that we haven’t seen any of the other Macross series distributed in the United States, instigated numerous troll law suits, and I’m going to blame them for Battletech’s Dark Age, just because.

I also believe they’re responsible for “Warriors of the Wind.”
Yeah, if you think Battletech Fans are salty about the unseen. Then you haven't seen the anime fans about Macross!

Being a fan of both Marcoss and Battletech I know how the salt flows.
I'm reminded of the scene in Braveheart when the English send in a troop of Irish conscripts against the Scots. Both sides charge in full force, then slow down to meet each other with greetings and handshakes. And then they promptly form ranks together against the English.

Substitute the English, Irish, and Scots with HG, Macross fans, and BT fans respectively.

Maybe the Pirate Faction can be renamed to represent HG?
Hmmmmmm..

Lets call them "Conformity Precious Metals Mining and Land Development". - an aggressive Conglomerate who constantly tries to undermine defenseless Planetary Governments to steal vast mineral rights and oppressing indigenous peoples while doing so. Those dastardly villains!

As I understand it ( may be wrong ) the judge should make his decision by the 18th - but it might take a couple days before it is posted up and we hear the result.
