Wiz is actually working for Paradox now, isn't he?

I remember him saying that the 1.09 update for CK+ will be the last thing he does for that mod. :(

Yeah but this happened very recently. Paradox should realize his unbelievable skills in his CK2+ mod. My biggest concern is that we will lost CK2+ mod in the long run.

Vanilla is easy and becomes more and more simplistic as you play. But with mods, gameplay and immersion are enhaced substantially.
Not really my experience. I'm 180 hours in and still learning. I have yet to ever even make it to the end date, or form an empire (though I've played existing ones.) So that's probably a big contributing factor to me not seeing the appeal of mods that make the game harder. Until I've mastered vanilla, I'm fine with the level of difficulty as it is.

Granted, I also fall firmly on the RP side of the roleplayer/power gamer divide. Which is also a factor in determining preferred difficulty.

Lux Invicta is a crazy mod - religions, races, historical eras, everything is mixed and scattered all across the map, but I think that is exactly what its users love about it. Craziness with style.

Personally I am more an orderly, historical-style player so LI isn't my cup of tea but I can see why people like it.

Remember Shaytana had a history degree. So it is perfectly alt-historical.

I'm sure that PI could replace a whole basic CK2 devs team with Wiz standalone and 1.10 would be the most epic thing PI has ever released. Just my 5 cents.

Here is some statistics from december from people who played CK2 and had opted in to send statistics.

Would it be possible to get statistics (matched by IP?) for registered forum users? I mean what mods (if any) registered Paradox forum users play. I bet the numbers are waaay different :)

It'd be interesting to see how many people have booted up a mod at least once for a minimum period of time to be able to play it properly, as I suspect a lot of that 81% includes people who do play mods, but aren't playing one at that particular time.

81% was people who had not booted up a single mod in december...

Well, running through this really quick...

Sounds great!
-New faction system, where they're not always there to just ruin your day.
-Being old is actually a bad thing.
-Tyranny system.
-Crusader states.
-More leeway to create gender equality for non-Basques.
-More ambitions and plots.
-The ability to create more than just the default de jure empires! (Almost installed it JUST for that. Anyone know if there's a stand-alone mod that does this?)

No thanks.
-Lower vassal levies for offensive wars.
-More dangerous plots and revolts.
-Turning West Africa into a powerhouse (I agree it's not fleshed out enough in vanilla, but there's a happy medium between that and the crazy version in CK2+)
-Holy Wars cost piety. (What?)
-More lethal diseases. (CK2 is "uncertain" enough as it is with every other ruler dying in their 30s of "Natural Causes." I'd actually love a mod that significantly reduces the chances of that.)
-Messing around with the de jure title structure. (More just an issue of me being used to vanilla. If I'd started with CK2+, it wouldn't bother me.)

So, looking at it now, CK2+ actually has a better ratio of good to bad than something like Project Balance. It's about 50/50. Hell, maybe I will give it a shot at least. XD
I'd love to hear what you consider bad in Project Balance ;)

~ PB author

It's rare to find a mod author who understands good game design. Most of them just think "MOAR!"
Less is more is definitely my philosophy when it comes to modding.

That doesn't make any sense. The numbers on the first page add up to exactly 100%, so where are people counted that started more than one mod? I myself started both CK2+ and at least one other mod during December, probably more, so where am I counted? CK2+, other mods, or...? What exactly does the statistics actually show?

Most likely it shows "most played mod" for those who've actually started a mod. Or they got lazy and took vanilla - CK2+ - GoT = other mods, rather than accounting for people who've played more than one mod.

On another note it'd be nice to see a list of mods limited to those who've actually used mods, so we could see more than just two mods.

So if you started a mod once, and vanilla 100 times, you'd be listed under playing that mod? Oh, and what if you started two mods exactly the same amount of times? Sorry, but it really sounds like a perfect case of "lies, damned lies and statistics" here... :p

Agreed.

I started up The Winter King, CK2+ and Game of Thrones in December, so I'm also a but confused.

I can understand that 81% of people would not use mods, but I just assumed the lack of some mods being listed was due to the statistics being each instance of the game being run.

I am another who does not use CK2+, because frankly, it should be called CK2+++++, or whatever - you cannot seriously expect to appreciate all the changes it makes everywhere, can you? It "fixes" everything. Mind you, I do appreciate Wiz working on the AI for the Dev Team, because that - I do recognize as one hell of an useful thing to happen.

I personally do not touch most mods unless it is for fantasy scenarios like aGoT. I maintain my own personal mod that I tweak whenever I want to get balance or something done right - a pain to keep up every new patch, sure, but far better than being stressful about other mods updating themselves and nitpicking between features I do, and do not like.

Never had any performance issues.

This would be because you're not using a machine that is on the borderline of CK2 functionality.
