How the AI pagans never really try to reform. If anything, these tribal pagans should prioritize converting or reforming their faith and become feudal. But no, even starting in 769 and playing to the 1400s, most of eastern Europe is still living in huts and worshiping their own pantheons, posing no threat at all to Western Europe and getting easily run over by the Turkic hordes.

In my Kanem game using the IBL mod, the Finnish pagans actually reformed. I was surprised they pulled it off. Of course, first Great Holy War they declare is against the Mongols and they lose that fairly quickly.

1. vanilla map (Looks at Carpathian mountains, basin, and province borders)

2. Hungarian Migration having to end in historic place (looks at plausible continuation west and chance to settle in northern Italy or France)

3. comets .... oh sorry, that's in EU series, here it would be rebellions

Appointing commanders.....
I swear to god, it's like every month. I am so over having to constantly appoint commanders.....

Great DLC though and a wonderful game!! 1100+ hours and going!
What I want to know is how some of them get themselves disappointed, other than an intermediate ruler being installed between us.

No release/ransom/execute all prisoners option. in some long wars i can have 20+ prisoners which just makes it a complete slog to go through

Does Paradox+CK2+ special mass execution feature for our convenience sound good to you? To Paradox? Doubt it.

In my current game, Catholic Holy Orders.

Overall, probably Decadence, as it makes playing as huge swathes of the map I'm really interested in quite painful.

The inability to raze holdings as non-nomads. Breaks my heart to take Rome only for half its holdings to be bishoprics. It'd make such a nice central capital if I could tear everything down and fill it up with cities or castles. And this is really true for anything I want in my demesne; it always feels like a race against time to grab want I want before the AI ruins it for the next four centuries.

I wish you could just pay some obscene cost and burn down whatever you want. Like doing it to castles could cost prestige, churches could cost piety... could give traits like Arbitrary and give tyranny or some negative province modifiers to reflect forcing people out.

Shattered retreat

really? i get that it's kinda unrealistic but it keeps a defeated army from being attacked immediately after fleeing and when it's still utterly helpless. normal retreat in CK2 was/is difficulty breaking if used against an AI, rage inducing if used on a player.

1) Empire Blobs
At the moment I have a game where the HRE have included France and Aquitaine to its list ever since the game started, and it never seems to fall either. Similarly the Byzantines stretch from the Adriatic all the way across the Euroasiatic steppes. The Abbasids and Umayyads have been dealt with due to Decadence mechanics and similar so the middle east is barely an issue, but the Christian realms are way too stable.

2) Culture
Previously mentioned HRE is mostly based around the French rather than the German, thus the French culture stretches into parts of Germany. So far so good. Now there've started turning up weird French enclaves in the Carpathians, Pommerania, southern Italy, Africa... it really grinds my gears, I'll tell you what!

3) The AI
Now I know this is a very major part of the game I complain about, but I stand by it! I mean most of my arguments above would be dealt with if the AI were just thinking a bit more like a Meta-Player and a bit less like a randomized unit. If the German lords cared a bit more about staying German, if the Bohemian peasants cared a little less about their lord being French, and so forth. If they just could have some sense of self-preservation y'know?

4) Peasant Rebellions
I mean as it stands the peasants trying to deal with the above French lords on their territory would have no shot, since the 40K+ troops of the Kaiser would take care of them without blinking. At the same time had it been only local the some times 4k peasants would steamroll over any province they tried to take. I don't know if I have a good suggestion for this, I only know I see this as somewhat of a problem.

X) Tanistry
My vassals keep voting for worthless people with below 10 in all stats and horrible traits they'll hate rather than the more awesome 11+ in all stats guys who're brave and just... what am I even supposed to do with that?

oh god this sooooooooo much. tanistry seems to be the single most broken succession option right now. in an old patch i had chosen tanistry and immediately regretted it because the jackasses voting preferred a pair of distant relatives both of which, had single digit stats whereas 1 oldest son was all double-digits and my 2nd son not too far behind.

I dislike the simplicity of culture conversion. It's basic and primitive. As one example: as Emperor, I cannot use Kings to convert regions to THEIR culture, only MY culture. This prevents me from maintaining a variety of different cultures within my empire - leading to everyone looking the same - leading to boredom.

Related to that, I dislike that vassals of a liege that have a different culture to the liege will NEVER vote for the liege's heir in an elective monarchy. They will also do all they can to form factions against their liege, no matter how good of an opinion rating they have. This forces you to only have vassals of the same culture, which leads to boredom and lack of variety, esp in you empire vassal portraits (lol).

Basically, culture and the interactions between the liege and vassals of different cultures is basic and boring. It should be more sophisticated so that a variety of people can be collected under one kingdom/empire - as was the case in real empires.

It's all too boring and simplified atm, and it makes me feel like sleeping with boredom. It's too primitive and unsatisfying and lacks imagination from Paradox.

Trade post sieges counting the same as for real sieges, when it comes to message alerts.
Have it so siege victories/defeats pause the game or pop up to keep you informed of important wartime events? Cue 15 "Siege of trade post defeats..." as you try to time your assaults and troop movements. If they actually contributed to war score, that'd be one thing.

I'm a newbie CK2 player, 2.6 patch is where I'm starting from, but what I have played for a while now is EUIV and from that standpoint I don't get this hatred for Shattered Retreat that so many are mentioning. From what I can tell it work exactly the same as the standard retreating procedure in EUIV. It prevents stackwipes and prolongs wars, yes. But, what's so terrible about allowing an army to survive and fight again another day? What am I missing here?
