Abbasids, Karlings, Ummayads obviously.

But for me, also House Doukas - the house ruling the Byzantines in 1066. In-game they are weak and ineffective. Historically they were one of the most corrupt and ineffective imperial dynasties in the history of the empire. The disasters that hit the empire around the time of Manzikert were exacerbated by them and could have even have been avoided if they were better equipped as leaders.

The huge amounts of land they own makes them troublesome vassals too.

You know that technically, when you hate Karlings, you are hating every living European... :p
You know... that could be said for every dynasty ever, as all people are (technically) related to each other.

But let's not delve too much into that.

I forgot about the Doukas dynasty! Those idiots that were utterly corrupt and ineffective in real life become living gods in CK2. I once saw an intact Byzantium (they beat back the Seljuks) where the son of Manuel Doukas (1066 heir apparent to Byz) was the military genius Basileus... and a 'the Great' to boot.

Not a common answer but the Goddamn Tarjan, I was their Khagan and they kept Revolting from me when I try to expand the Magyar Plains. I kinda miss them now, I lost that save file.

I hate the Byzantine empire above all else. Trying to do the Italian empire is almost impossible since these guys always get's to Sicily first. And then they just sit there so stable and strong they are almost impossible to dislodge.

Dynasty, it's either the Doukas, for never screwing up the ERE like they did in history, or the Salians, for just being gigantic jerks in general.

HRE. Hate the germans' guts.

As for dynasty, Rurikids. Tried a game as a Lithuanian pagan in 1066, got rekt by 20k Rurikid army(No, I am not playing 2.5. Conclave is crap and I don't have access to mod forum to see if CK2+ was upgraded to fix it yet).

I hate the karlings for two reasons.

1. In the TOG start they dominated. Recent patches have changed it a bit.

2. In the CM start they fail almost every time and Europe turns into a mess.

From my personal mod:

Abbasids: My immediate neighbor to the east. I usually deal with them via a great holy war called by the Kohen Gadol. After taking Mesopotamia from them (robbing them of their money and manpower), the Caliph calls either a jihad or invasion every time I get a new ruler. It's like their coronation gift to my new ruler - "Congratulations, you been crowned the new Great King / Queen of Israel. The Abbasid Caliph has now declared a jihad / invasion against you!"

The Scythian Amazons:
Once the Viking Age event fires, the prayers of every Mediterranean ruler from the Straits of Gibraltar to the Levant whether they be Christian, Muslim, Jew, or Pagan are the same - "Deliver us from the wrath of the Amazons!!!" In the early 800s, rich Mediterranean cities become targets of roving raiding parties of Amazons as the combination of political consolidation in Scythia (k_taurica) and lack of land for younger daughters drive the attractions of raiding and conquest. The one saving grace is that Amazon raiders can't capture men as lovers.

Ummayads and Andalusia. I have become accostumed to the green and purple blobs, so they don't annoy me that much. However, Andalusia is the Doom of the non-muslim world.

In my games, I usually feel bad for the Karlings. No matter how hard Charlemagne works, his whole empire implodes because the franks are OBSESSED with Elective. I tend to avoid playing there just for the mess I've seen befall house Karling time and time again.

House de Cantábria (kings of Asturias at Charlemagne start date) is the one that annoys me. They sport an ugly coat of arms that look like an unfinished job if I ever saw one. Plus I would rather play someone from house d'Astúrias (unlanded in game, despite being ellected mid startdates irl). Of the de Cantábrias, King Aurelio is a cool guy, innefective old man, but a nice ruler and usually smart in picking his wars. His brother and successor Veremondo, however, is a shite person, murderous, revoker of my titles and a fair tie with the worst of the Jimenas on the kinslaying game (which is true to his real life persona, I'll admit).
None of the de Cantábrias, NONE of them pick their historical successor, Silo de Pravia, because the game gave him a county that is not dejure Asturias. Why? Beats me.
The Ummayads are a problem, of course, and I hate them until they are out of Hispania, then I bring just one back, convert him to Catholicism and give him some land because I really love how their coat of arms look.

Oh, it gets worse: I started in 1066, where the Karlings have a grand total of one male dynast left (And we all know the AI is too stupid to reliably form matrilineal marriages), and he starts as an OPM count. Out of vague curiosity, I check the Karling dynasty a century later, in 1171. Forty-someodd members, two duchies, three non-ducal counties, and I think the duke of Luxembourg is trying to form Lotharingia.

lol sounds about right. There's a lot a OPM can do with that kind of dynasty prestige.

King Aurelio is a cool guy, innefective and old but nice and usually smart in picking his wars. His male successor, Veremondo is a shite person, murderous revoker and a tied with the worst of house Jimena on the kinslaying game. None of them, NONE of them pick their historical successor, Silo de Pravia, because the game gave him a county that is not dejure. Why? Beats me.
The Ummayads are a problem and I hate them until they are out of Hispania, than I bring just one back, convert him to Catholicism and give him some land because I love how their coat of arms look.

Elective is usually less of an issue with Conclave active. Faction members get war council as priority, and then the most powerful vassals get locked into the council and unable to form more factions. Namely Elective.....or more council power for that matter. Then they stay in Gavelkind. Which although it allows the Karlings to stay in power it has the unfortunate issue of border gore.

I tend to play 1066 or later a lot (at least partially because it cuts down the annoyance of raiders everywhere), so the Salians/HRE will always be my choice. Big, unbreakable without heavy player intervention, and generally obnoxious. Although it can be fun to marry one of Heinrich's daughters for an alliance and keep him warring constantly until his vassals revolt.
