I've done the Imperial Federation before with the Monarchist King's Party, but it looks like you could attempt it with almost any ideology. If I wanted to use the Imperial Federation to help me (eventually) get the One Empire achievement, what is most efficient path?

A week ago, I would have said either the Monarchist or Blackshirt path. But then I watched Feedback Gaming's exploit of the Naval Treaty, where he conquered most of the other majors before 1940 as a Democratic UK. So that has to be considered an option.

I've never played as Blackshirt UK, but it appears that I would still be able to take the God Save the King sub-branch if I wanted. Then I could grab Unite the Anglosphere and Imperial Conscription focuses, which would add lots of the manpower you will need to garrison the world. If Mosley can take God Save the King, I'm probably leaning that way, as I could also get the New World Order achievement at the same time.

Let me know what you think.

I did new world order as fascist America since you get the reduction to justify time. Also I did one empire as monarchist uk, but I'm also not confident enough in my abilities to cheese the game as hard as feedback gaming.

Ive done the Imperial Federation once as the Facist UK. I plan on doing it as Monarchist at some point. I went for Netherlands and Belgium first, then France and Canada at the same time. Once Canada had been puppeted, I had started upgrading the infrastructure there and went for my other subordinates. Made sure each were puppeted and also built in them to lower autonomy as low as possible but I didn't annex. ONce I had all of them, I attacked America. I annexd America and took the decision to give Canada the America and Core it. So Canada was now super Canada but still a puppet. From there, I went through my imperial federation tree while increasing opinion with each of the puppets. Oh and I made sure I had about 1000 PP saved up to take the decisions and event chains as needed. Make sure to take the indian autonomy focus and not the other one. Its needed to do it.

Then IMperial federation was complete. I'll go ahead and get a Monarchist version going here sometime today and give you a better walkthrough!

I did my One Empire and Imperial Federation as Monarchist. It was pretty easy. Defeating America early makes it a breeze (also got the William Wallis achievement and various others doing this). As monarchist. I got 13 achievements. But if you don't have New World Order, doing it as fascist UK will get you it.

Also there is an exploit via the London Naval Conference mechanic to get wargoals on almost everyone with Democratic UK.

BTW, annexing the commonwealth does not stop you from doing Imperial Federation. I got it in my Monarchist run after annexing all the commonwealth after retaking them when they decided to leave. (However haven't tried to do it again so if it has been patched, I wouldn't know.)

From my knowledge you dont get the cores on the Commonwealth if you dont puppet and then annex from the focus but i could be wrong.

You still get the cores if you straight up annex them beforehand

I Might have to look into that. Cause the hoi4 formable guide tells you to puppet.

So if you look at the wiki, there is actually a reason to puppet them. You get bonuses to construction speed among a bunch of other things. If you are facist, you also can form the European Union. The only one who can as a facist is the UK. very interesting.

Thanks for all the responses, and for the link to the Imperial Federation Formable Nation wiki info. I had no idea all that was out there.

It sounds like the UK Blackshirts are my best option here, mostly due to the option to grab both One Empire and New World Order achievements in the same game. Some people love world conquest games, but I'm not one of them, and so I don't want to have to do it twice.

One clarifying point before I go. If, after capitulating the USA, I puppet them, then gradually reduce their autonomy until they are annexed- I should inherit their entire navy, air force, and divisions. Is that correct? And if I do this, will I still be able to later use the "Create Pan-North-American State" decision? Since I won't be in a huge rush, I would rather get all their ships and equipment intact, and then merge them with Canada to get all those juicy cores before the Imperial Federation.

Let me know if this approach is unworkable, or limited to the Monarchist government type.

Remove your capital ships at the start of the game so you get free wargoals against France, Italy, Japan and USA.

Agreed. Feedback Gaming did a video a few weeks ago doing just that- it was crazy powerful.

Dumb question- If you go down the Fascist Blackshirt or Monarchist path, can you still take advantage of the Naval Treaty mechanics to get all those CB?

Do the monarchist or blackshirt afterwards, it's not like it takes a long time to conquer USA with cavalry.

Good point- I could become Fascist any time as long as I don't take the "Steady as she Goes" branch.

But for the Monarchist path, I was thinking that your stability goes in the crapper immediately after Edward's marriage crisis, and the only way to repair it is with the King's Party, or having him abdicate. It's be a while since I played this path, so I could be mis-remembering.

I enjoy doing the imperial conference first, then go Fascist (keeping all the dominions), invade America and form super Canada, complete the imperial federation and somewhere along here you can get the decision to form Europe and get cores on all the western Europe and I think get the most core manpower in the game
