You can also read the lore files in the DLC, its on your computer even if you don't own it yet(so you can see other players textures). IIRC they are just in XML. The morrigi DLC has info on them.

Interesting concept Arinn has thought up there, for the Morrigi and the potential transgendered females. Gender to the Morrigi is looks and mannerisms, not actual gender. Quite a liberating view, but combined with a massively forced gender role, it is strangely odd. A combination of ancient conservatism and modern liberties.

I just became a little more in love with the dragons.

Regarding the avatars, and any potential females there, harpies or not, there are quite a few females in SotS1 too.

The main thing i dont like about the Morrigi LV is that it's not a vertical design as is the Morrigi design ethos the DN follows this so should the LV imo. :)

and please dont flame me if i used the term ethos incorrectly, but i think you get what i mean. :p

don't ya just love Arinn?

yeah, but none of them are holding weapons, which the Morrigi have a cultural taboo against, and it's a little odd to select an unusual member of the species for the box art. that said, Harpies are somewhat significant in the background of this game, so that it's one of them seems likely.

EDIT: also, you used ethos correctly, so don't worry.

Perhaps no weapons, but one of them wear armour. And given the story of the Wyrm of 'that place on the Tarka homeworld' the females are obviously allowed to carry weapons, and use them. Until the story of Atreus and the Harpies I actually half assumed that any boarders would be female, given their size and strength.

Each race has a different focus on ship classes - Tarka should specialise in cruiser sized vessels, Humans and Morrigi in Dreadnaught sized vessels, Hiver's used to have very effective destroyers so not sure how that will work in SOTS ][ unless its the DE sized battleriders (which are heavily armed). In the same way in SOTs prime Humans had very effective and cheap dreadnaughts - I would not expect them to shift this into LV's in SOTS ][ but remain with their primary racial bonus on Dreads. Morrigi have very effective Dreadnaughts - and this could well counteract/balance a weaker Leviathon, although there leviathons are amoung the cheapest to produce.

There is no set end of game race - the Zuul have been balanced with access to Suul'ka, and through the Suul'ka the ability to gain any tech they fancy (at a price) - now Zuul with Adamantine armour and meson beams? I would suggest refraining from final judgement until all the features are in and we can see how the races balance out :)

Off topic, but it may make the Zuul OP.

I'm disappointed tbh that there is no "end game races", a spot occupied by Liir and Morrigi in SOTS1. It was very good for game play. It forced you to be aggressive as Zuul for example.

The game is slower, more sedate; i think they're expecting a longer end-game, which would ruin the Suul'ka Horde as a faction if they still ran out of steam midgame.

to be honest, though, the Zuul get Suul'ka, Suul'ka tech and movement (Suul'ka can relocate to any star, as well as of course take Zuul with them off the node lines); the Liir have the Black, battleships, the Zuul battleriders providing serious firepower (Zuul ships with Liir tech...). the Morrigi have drones, which are more important now, and battleriders in a way nobody else does (that LV mounts like a third again as many BRs as anyone else's, for less cash). Solforce, I haven't played as, but let's be honest, just making the node ring not a massive target any more is going to bolster them no end. I suspect the assessment of their LVs above may be wrong, too; the humans invented the Leviathan class, after all... The Hivers have gate stations now - considerably harder to kill than even a decently-armoured cruiser gate, i suspect - and the gate network has become even MORE of an advantage now that ships return to base after missions.

in short, i think every race is more powerful now, their styles of combat more developed and focussed. they might not be balanced, yet, but i can certainly see how to balance them.
