Ok I do understand the fact that the morrigi have theirs special trait called HeadHunter (fot those who don't know what it does it basically gives you a 50-50 chance to "absorve" an enemy general with the "drafted" or "recruited" trait -i cannot recall the name correctly- to your empire.

That being said here's my question:

Early in the game I have loads of admirals from diferent civs. The fun thing is that they don't have that weird required trait to be recruited. so how come we have those guys? moreover Aren't we supposed to never have met any other races when we begin a game?

K thats all :p hope u get my drift and if i'm wrong please let me know!

Sots II takes place 100 years after Sots Prime, all the races are assumed to have met already (thus no language research).

The Morrigi federation takes other races in, so they may have generals from all walks of life.

hmm that is good to know.
Still if that where the case, wouldn't Morrigi planets be filled with all sorts of alliens instead of only morrigi? furthermore, how come there are only like 2 or 3 morrigi admirals an like 5 or 6 non-morrigi? It's weird.
still don't mind me, this is all but a philosofical question :p

Their planets are assumed to be polygot. However the planets involved are in fact the Morrigi race's planets. While the independant races were in, they could also supply admirals for the Morrigi fleets. The Morrigi Confenderacy isn't a nation, it is more like a superclose alliance. Each race is free to travel, trade and so on, but they are not part of the same society.

I will grant that I was somewhat surprised to see that many non-Morrigi among the admirals. I never expected more than 2 of 8 or so. Instead it seems like it is the opposite, and my last run at them had 4 of 8 be Hivers. The confederated races are supposed to be a significant minority, but not anywhere near the Morrigi in numbers.

Nah, not a 'superclose alliance' as the members of the Morrigi Confederation have full citizenship. They are free to travel and trade of course, but they are part of the same society much like any immigrant in most countries, with some biological tinkering so they're all comfortable in the same environments.

I wasn't expecting that many non-Morrigi in the Admiralty as well. I would have thought about 5-7% on average for each of the 5 other races, and 65-75% for Morrigi. You might have just gotten lucky on the rolls and just kept getting Hiver

bear in mind Morrigi breed slow and are undergoing some cultural upheavals at the moment, so the number of admirals may be fewer proportionally than you'd expect.

that said, i think there's a bug in admiral generating code at the moment; the Liir-Zuul Alliance can, in theory, get both Liir and Zuul admirals, but every time you get a Liir, he's overwritten next turn by a Zuul. something similar might be happening to the Morrigi admirals?
