Morocco or Algeria

What nation is the most enjoyable and what strategy to create an empire.

I want to play as either Algeria or Morocco. Can't decide.

Morocco more Colony oriented?

Algeria more diplo annex, i mean Tunis and Tripoli and then war against Mameluks/Ottomans. Maybe take over some mediterranean islands.

This is for a mp game with my buddy. One will play as Morocco and the other as Algeria.

never played as Algiers but many times as Morocco and they are my favorite nation. You can play colonial game and retake Al Andalus pretty easily, just remeber to have big navy to block them and their colonization. My advise would be maybe to choose different country to your friend since it limits your expansion and remember you have very low manpower after uniting North Africa and colonization of Americas i had ~25k manpower but could support 120k army. First steps would be to vassalize Tunis and Tripoli and cannibalize Algiers. Then Portugal should come after you. Take Ceuta, Madeira and Azores to block their colnization in peace deal and seize every colony they put near you(but since you're in greatest position to colonize so it's great chance you will be first to do it, just put in Rio de Oro and Arguin colonist at the same time). Just remeber big fleet will save you and try to bait them into inland sea to boost galleys.

I really must second the notion that if it is a 2 player game DO NOT play both Morocco/Algiers as Sousuke says it really limits expansion. Ideally you want to take the entire North African coast as just 1 of those in order to be strong enough. A Morocco/Ottoman game would be amazing, be very easy for Ottoman to expand into Middle East and Persia while you take Africa.

Go with Algiers/Marocco + Ottomans/Mameluk.
Even solo one of the former 2 countries can pretty much dominate Africa. In my only Algiers game, I priorized expanding along Northafrica, eating up Marocco asap. Then I went for exploration idea and colonizes all along the African coast, annexing / protectorating all saharan nations on my way. I even DOW'd Portugal to throw them out of African when Castille wasn't looking.

By ~1700, I held the entire African coastline(yes, once all around, through Ethopia) and most of African's overall terriotory (~70-80%, the rest was mostly inland uncolonized). Fun game :3

Second country as Ottomans would be interesting and would prevent Algiers from getting annoying alliance with them though i would go crazy route: take Genoa , convert to Sunni and form Italy
