Right now, with the DH map Morocco is not very well implemented as it misses three very important (historically speaking) spanish enclaves like sidi ifni, Ceuta and Melilla, that's why i propose the next changes on the map:

I admit that maybe the Chafarinas islands and Alborán could be skipped, but i think that Ceuta Melilla, Sidi Ifni and Tanger not, specially if we consider that there was a war in sidi ifni within game's timeframe, the sidi ifni war, 1957-1958:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ifni_War

and that Morocco during the 30s, 40s (with exception of vichy france and all that) and partially in the 50s looked like this:

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/23/Morocco_Protectorate.svg

i think that this is a change that should be made for the next version and it would also help for another war that happened during the game's timeframe, the Rif war:

What do you think?

I think I got it, but I am not ironic at all. I just consider the current version of America has too many provinces, especially int the so-called "fly over states". Conquering each province manually sux hairy ballzz.
It it was an important installation by the time, yes it should be there. However do not forget that if you play USA and base your major fleet(s) there it should sound as "on rase gratis" (aka "I offer everyone free lunch") to japanese convoy raiders.

If you don't like having to conquer each province, then go play something else! The point of a province based game is to have a map that can be useful both for historical representation of history and an alternate representation of history (the famous alternate histories) or even to be able to represent some science fiction histories, like for instance, a surviving up to XX century roman empire. That said, the more provinces the game has the better. What you're saying is that you only want a map suitable for the 1936-1963 period, making the game too streamlined.

HoI3 :
* sucks, hence the vitality of this forum while for most games a new version obsoletes the previous one. The 10k landsprovinces, regiment level units and shitton of micromanagemnet are a major part in HoI3's suckage.
* has a decent AI system wich avoids you the hassle of manually conquering each confetti province.

I don't like HOI3 neither, i played the demo and, both tech and diplomacy systems prevented me from buying it. However it also has nice things and, precisely the map, is one of them. If there's a ton of micromanagement it's not map's fault but interface's one

Since "people dreamt with a map full of provinces", as a grown up man you should be aware that some sexual fantasies are best left as sexual fantasies instead of being actually enacted. The map "full of province" is a prime example of a fantasy whose actual implementation turned out to be "full of sh*t".

As i said before, in a province based game, the more provinces the better, it's like saying that you would cut to the half the cars you can find in GTA because most of the people don't drive them. Don't lie, what you really want is to streamline the game, don't you?

And, one thing about microprovinces, some of them may not be useful, ok i'll give you that, i think that, Danish west indies (nowadays american virgin islands) may not be useful at all apart from an event depicting the sale of those islands to the USA (event that can be made also without the province itself) and maybe from a fascist or nazi Denmark holding a fleet there just for their imperialistic goals. But other ones, are, for example the Spanish cities of Ceuta and Melilla and the French controlled Tanger, simply necessary if you want certain historical conflicts to be depicted. I mention these three because the Franco-Spaniard offensive during Rif War had those three cities as main attack axis and main base. It's true that they made some landings like the Alhucemas one, but that was late in the war and was not their main attack offensive.

Also Heligoland is great if you are:

Germany:You could launch your submarines to attack Norway(if you have annexed it and british troops is still threre) and launch early (but not good as france) to launch air attacks to U.K.

U.K:You could use it to bomb Germany and a good Naval Base to Protect Norway and even do an alternative Day D

P.D sorry for my bad english

Heligoland is just ~30 NM from the nearest German port. It wasn't capable of handling lots of large combat ships historically anyway. In effect this island wouldn't be useful for naval operations, though I suspect it could be exploited with an ahistorical use of aircraft.

@ those who don't like HoI3: You clearly haven't had a look at the expansions.
