In my DW game as England, Morocco often has as many as 3 monopolies at a time (Berbera, Zanzibar, and Alexandria). Is there any way short or annexing them to make this go away? I don't get trade income from vassalizing them :( And they refuse to sign a trade agreement with me.

Any idea what they are doing with all this money? They didn't have any when I was at war with them. And incite against merchants has a lousy chance of success.

Well that money goes directly into tech investments so that they do not have any cash is unrelated (unless they would be minting as hell ofcourse)

Depending on what your goal is you could just spam merchants till the monopolies brake and/or get an advisor and NI to make this easier.
How much higher is your trade tech?

It all depends on what its worth to you, why do you want to trade there in the first place? With england and its colonial income you can basicly do what you want.

They are usually rubbish CoTs anyway, but if you really care about you can try reducing their prestige down to abysmal levels, this will hurt their compete chance considerably.

Portugal got mauled in 1511 or so, Aragon got a province in Portugal itself, France got the island east of Brazil and Morocco got Tangiera and Cetua. Castille eventually took the 2 provinces, and I split out Fez in a war.
Prestige, eh? I can try that. I am mainly looking for the tarriff boost.

Those CoTs sound like a mild gain at best. If you want you could take over the provinces and destroy the CoTs. I prefer just ignoring those CoTs. I mean, my guess is that places like Ile-de-France pull in more trade income then those 3 combined.

France tends to embargo me, and my colonial empire could stand to benefit from +25% tariffs. The COTs are all stagnant, but they have yet to vanish. France even grabbed Timbuktu.
And I am a perfectionist.
Problem solved itself. Persia ate Swahili and Mamluks ate Adal.

Morocco is best muslim free trader nation.

It is. Morocco is a surprisingly good choice for a free trading colonial power, except for the fact that tech groups screw non-Western European countries immediately. Reaching Trade 6 then being told it'll take about 30 years to get to Trade 7 is deeply frustrating when you're the foremost trading power.

Well you however start ahead of tech... which helps

Except the advantage is lost quickly due to tech groups. Holland and Portugal gain four Trade levels far faster than Morocco can gain two. You could potentially downsize to reduce your tech costs, but I bet it wouldn't be that helpful.

Wait... Morocco survived long enough to get the trade tech required for monopolies?!

They do well from time to time. In my Ashanti game, I was surprised that when I colonized Taodeni+Tuat I didn't get a border with any Western tech nation. Morocco apparently had (somehow) conquered all of Egypt from the Mamluks, while Castille had only taken Tunisia+Tripoli out. Prussia was the only country having snagged a province from either Morocco or their protégée Algiers - which in itself I've never seen before. Morocco also held part of Anatolia, not sure if they beat the Ottomans or ate some minor Beyliks. As I hadn't had even very indirect contact with the region, they must have done it without any human support.

It also happens occasionally that Morocco or Algiers temporarily gain provinces in either England or Iberia - but they typically can't hold them long-term.

I wonder if human Burgundy/England tend to spell trouble for the North Africans? The bigger troubles France gets into, the less likely that they will act as a deterrent of Castillian aggression. It probably also depends on who ends up as papal controller as a crusade against either is likely to lead to an annihilating dogpile.

That's just because in your game it suffered from a very heavy ahead of time penalty, believe me that Morocco reaches TT7 basically on par with the good trading powers.
