I would like to see more variety in the number of utility slots on a ship by trading off the number of weapons slots in the same hull module. Only the corvette Shifter Core hull module does this.

I designed a Sword Worlds Confederation empire to play, based on the Traveller RPG. I was disappointed that the ship design process would not allow me to design ships that could take more punishment at the expense of the number (or size) of weapons as the Sword World ships were known for. The Sword Worlds were technologically inferior to the neighbouring Imperium, so they purposely made their battleships "tankier".

For example, the cruiser bow module Screen Breaker (2 x S and 1 x M weapons; 1 x M and 1 x L utilities) could be tweaked to give a new option, the Armoured Breaker (1 x S and 1 x M weapons; 1 x S and 1 x M and 1 x L utilities). This would allow the cruiser to have more power, shielding, armour, or hull at the expense of one less small weapon mount.
