Currently, interrgnum is used for Bohemia, Hungary and Poland at start date, and heir's dying at regency. But countries in pre-modern Europe had many interregnum when their kings died. And current succession to the throne system is too simple.
Elective monarchy is very weird now. Can PU other country but cannot be. Burning legitimacy for local heir who isn't current king's dynasty when current king is foreigner.
So how about expanding interregnum and changing Elective monarchy?
Interregnum should happen not only when heir's dying at regency, but also king's dying without an heir. And among interregnum, there are for options.
First, give a throne to a noble from one of the countries which have royal marriage with our country.
Second, give a throne to a king who rules one of the countries which have royal marriage with our country; ger PU under that country.
Third, give a throne to a king who rules one of the countries which have royal marriage with our country; get PU over that country like GBR-Hannover, Pol-Lit.
Fourth, make a local noble be a new king.
And for Elective monarchy, it should be changed in three ways.
First, it should be allowed for every countries. For example, Bohemia should have elective monarchy.
Second, it should have legal heir like other monarchy. But it shouldn't automatically throne him when former king dies. Instead, it has interregnum everytime when its king dies. So it will work in more historical way.
Third, interregnum which will be applied to elective monarchy should be changed a little bit; accept legal heir of former king or not? So if it chooses the legal heir of former king, it will have low legitimacy like now and increased centralization effect. Interregnum for elective monarchy will be applied in several different ways. For example, when a foreign king who is also a king of another country(PUing our country/PUed by our country) dies with/without an heir, and a local king or foreign king who is from the dynasty of other country dies with/without an heir are differed when it has interregnum.
