More than 3 ethics not possible even with console

Hello.

Long time ago, before 2.0 hit the fan, I was able to make some silly games playing as overpowered empire with total of 6 or more ethic points (fanatic militarist/xenophobe/materialist for example).

However now, when I got bored with one of my games, I decided to try it again and I noticed that games automatically removes excessive ethic which was not the mechanic in previous versions. I also remember having some AI empire with 1 fanatic and 2 normal ethics - now, afte quite some time playins 2.x, didn't see any of them.

Did the game get some kind of patch to solve this "issue"?

I was never aware of a console method to achieve this but it can be modded in and there with a few on the workshop that do it(in addition to adding new ethics).

Well, console commands are quite easy to make it happen:

About mods - I'm aware of them, however I would like for AI to not have access to additional ethic points ;)

Your other alternative would be a save game edit then, though if the engine is automatically removing excess ethic picks added through the console then it would likely do the same again.

There was a patch to deal with the AI sometimes getting more than 3 ethics points. It was sort of a one line note in a dev diary/patch note IIRC.
That may have spilled over to affect players as well (assuming unmodded games).
