Note: If you don't want to read/talk about the ACW, don't read/post in this thread. Nobody makes anyone read any of the threads here. If you want to start a thread about something else, start a thread about it and DON'T mention the ACW in it.

Does anyone know how the territory acquisition system will be like? Will it be like HOI where you just occupy the province, or like EU2 where you have to fight the fortifications there? Something in between? I don't know what would feel right for the time period, as I don't know much about warfare then except for the ACW. And, knowing the Civil War is coming, can't a player just build up forts in the North and leave the South as easy pickings?

I'm not sure thats forts will play quite as big a role as EUII. And I tried to rig the Spanish Civil War in HOI by putting all of the units in production pool and stuff like that but it never worked o i'm sure they will have a way to stop exploits such as that.

I don't know how players will take territory; probably similar to EU2 where the level of fortification affects the difficulty. Fortifications were important throughout this period so they presumably won't be ignored.

I'm hoping however that it won't be a case of "knowing the Civil War is coming" .... it ought to be something that can be avoided if player actions up to 1860 succeed in changing the situation. I really don't want it to just happen anyway, by a pop-up message...

Another devious :)D ) ACW thread, huh? ;)

About the North building forts. If I were to play as the US and I want to fight the ACW as the North, I would concentrate everyting of value in the coming war (forts, industry, ports etc.) in "my" part of the country. If I was planning to play CSA, I would do the same. Ain't history lovely when you know what's gonna happen? :)

yes...this is devious. And I know I will probably do the same thing. Therefore I will start my game as the US in 1860....

I think there will be a similar sceanrio system like EUII where in the GC there is a way to alter secession and the social political effects of the time. Conversely I think there will be a scenario to specifically deal with the ACW that starts you 1859? so the build up and prep time isnt to much. I think territory will be similar, I dont see many differnces between HOI and EUII, visually anyway. I assume there will be a way to increase fortifications in a region which will add to your defense modifier but I wouldnt think there will be a signifigant change to the system used in HOI or EUII. Because of the technology in the victoria time frame sieges might not be as long any way due to the increase in artillery advancements.

*Lol* Excactly...pretty soon I will know everything about the ACW.

And...well...I forgot that if I start the game at 1860 I will miss out on the Mexan war...and that is of course unacceptable. :D

Then why didn't you say that in your post rather than simply saying you were sick of the ACW and there were too many threads on it. I think most people would agree thread hijacking is rude (and yes I am as guilty as any) but you made it sound like you wanted all ACW discussion banned becuase it was boring.

So, yes, I agree the ACW should not hijack other threads. :)

I hope there will be SOME kind of province fortification system. I don't want to see a rogue cavalry division get past my lines and see it racing up the coast taking territory, a la HOI. Virtually every state and major city had local militia.

Also, what about annexation? In EU2, you could not annex a whole nation unless it was only one province. I hope we don't have to leave Virginia (or DC, for you non-Yankees :) ) as a separate nation.

You hit the jackpot! It was one of the wosrt aspects of EU2. I mean it is wrong when my British Empire that is two provinces short of world conquest, has two wait for five years to annex a two province Korea, it is just plain wrong.
