Should we have more releasable tags to split big nations?

In HPM that was a possibility, like the desunited states, that balkanized the US, Russia having lots of mini tags inside of it, like tartarstan, the same with Brazil and China, with warlords.

Dynamic tags too? Like Client states, to help split big countries?

I very much want ways to break down big nations in to smaller ones without having to directly annex and then release as some sort of client state. It'd be interesting if every "state" in the world could be made independent somehow. That would be a hilariously nightmarish yet effective way of breaking up countries like the USA that have no, or very few/small scattered potential internal TAGs.

There should definitely be a way to splinter up big countries. If there is a complete collapse of Russia or the USA for example in the game, they should split into smaller pieces. If they can never break down into smaller units, there isn't much of a downside to ruining a country or defeating them.

I would like a system with dynamic tags that appear when you force a country to break up. They could be named after the most populous region. Of course the cost should be higher if they are mostly primary culture.

I don't think there is any Paradox game where it isn't possible to add new tags via modding. So even if you don't get your wish on release, you can go crazy on your own! ;)

I agree. Predetermined Tags have the problem that they don’t allow splintering a country which wasn’t divided much in real life, while they could have been on some arbitrary basis (see the Rhine Confederacy, for example). As you say, it should be harder to break up such a country, but not impossible.

It should only be possible to break up nations that make sense. Large multi-cultural and multi-ethnic empires such as Austria and the Ottomans.
It was already a reach in Victoria 2 allowing the USA to be split up by tags like California, New England, and Deseret. The Confederacy is good enough for splitting the USA in half.

I support the idea of dynamic tags simply for mods purposes. I just know theres gonna be a Victoria universalis mod after all. Make it happen paradox ;)

I'm pretty ignorant on this so forgive me, but is there a good reason why the USA or Mexico shouldn't be balkanizable but the Republic of Central America should? Obviously Central America should be able to disintegrate since that happened in real life, but if it happened to them why couldn't it happen to the USA? Not a rhetorical question, there may very well be a great reason that I'm unaware of.

Napoleon sort of pioneered the art of inventing countrys for geopolitical reasons (and you can do it in EU4! its fun!) so I don't neccesarily think it's a concept that doesn't make sense for the period, but that was during pretty unique circumstances and at a time of all out war so I think circumstances should have to maybe be similar? Like, I maybe don't think in 1836 you should just be able to just like, release Iowa and play as Iowa (sorry Iowans) but I do think that if the USA had lost a WWI sized conflict irl it would definitely be plausible for it to have be broken apart into smaller polities. Anyway, this is already probably either in the game or not at this point so maybe this is all pointless but there's my thoughts. (sorry for the longish post and semi self-contradicting opinions. much to think about!)

If it could happen to them (it didn't but both were on the table), then why should others be off limits?
To be fair much of that was more puppetry/annexation than creating a real 4 Turkey-countries.

But as a rule being generous should work; just give a separate Wales/North/Wessex/England/Scotland/Ireland, Germany whoever is already there plus a Prussian coast/Pommerania and Rhineland, USA can have a midwest and expanded Texas/Utah, Russia can have various polities like Tatarstan...

I think it would be sensible to be able to divide the USA along old colonial borders and (re)create the Thirteen Colonies, New France (Louisiana), Spanish Florida, Alta California etc.

Considering that in EU3 and HoI4 you can mod in as many new countries as you want there should be no problem to create similar new countries to Balkanize large countries post V3 release.

V3 is going to be so much more modder friendly compared to V2 it will really be a whole new aspect to the Victoria series. Victoria with the moddabity of HoI4 is the thing I am probably most looking forward to on release of V3.

Russia needs Turkestan and its sub tags(Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan etc.), Siberia and its sub tags(Sakha, Far Eastern Republic, Tuva, Buryatia etc.), Ruthenia, Belarus, Ukraine, Karelia, Caucasian tags, maybe a Cossack tag and a Tatarstan. Anybody who isn't an ethnic Russian or who is not in European Russia should be divisible.

US should get the obvious Cascadia, California, CSA, New England. Adding to that regional nations like Midwest or East Coast, religious-ethnic tags like Mormon, African-American and Amerindian tags and per chance maybe tags for individual states.
