Love a lot of the UI from Stellaris. The UI designers did an amazing job.

One of the most difficult things I find with the UI is though the diplomacy in the contacts tab. The number of nations can be overwhelming and difficult to find. Some sort of sub selection would be nice. For example included a mock up of a possible solution.

Edit:
For federations for example could use the same system as sectors in the 'Planets and Sectors' screen, so have the federation and then when you click on the federation a list of nations in that federation slides open below.

Suggestions and constructive feedback are welcome.

I'd say this screen is overwhelming with bad(lack of) information, the overview information presented here SHOULD have been presented to the player with map modes (CK2/EU4 like).

The information in the contacts page at a glance is wholly useless to me, I will explain my reasoning.

In UE4 I can see in my diplomacy tab whom I am at war with because of the country flags, France, Great Britain are all easily recognisable and I don't need to search the map to find these countries.

In a large sprawling galaxy like in Stellaris, Me being a rival of *insert space bugs* means nothing to me at a glace of the contact page, I have to mouse over the Rival icon , read the popup text, then find the rival in the list of contacts, click on them, then click on the zoom to button THEN zoom out to galaxy map and mouse wheel out a bit to see it's location on the map. This is a major problem early to mid game when you're discovering all the races and the map fog of war starts to uncover rapidly but you can't remember/memorize all the races and their alien names with their locations.

If I want to see this races alliances from this point, I have to start over on this process again.

I hope you don't think I'm bitchin at Paradox and the UI designers I love them! I just think some real opportunities for closer connections to the tried and successful systems in EU4/CK2 were missed for a whole new UI for a whole new game.
