Hi,
in HoI IV I would like to see a world map, giving a more realistic experience and also making the real distances more visible.
Therefore I believe, the only chance to archive this is, to use a globe a game map instead of a flat map.
Especially the unbelievable distances in the pacific or also on the african continent are not represented well in the last versions of HoI.
What do you think about it?

Unfortunately it appears far too late to do anthing like this - we've seen the map, it's flat, and that's the end of the story I'm afraid.
Johan's talked a bit about the versatility of the Clausewitz engine, but AFAIK either it cannot handle a 3D globe, or it has not yet been adapted to do so.
Well, answer me this. What strategic advantage do we get using a globe for the wwii era? For what reason do we need a sphere ? What situations do you see where a globe will help you more than a flat map during this era?
Basically it would make all distances, all sizes, and all shapes accurate, enable travel over the poles (including bombing/rockets). Consider how far appart Alaska and Russia are in HOI3 - thousands of miles apart - but in reality they're only about 50 miles apart.
Civ4 - yes it would become a globe on zoomout, but this was just some fake graphical effect I think and not a real globe since size of the squares didn't change near the poles.
Anyway, real globe or not, I would prefer to NOT have this in HoI. The current side-scrolling around the world is good enough and considering the development effort a globe would take there are lots of other things I'd rather see that time used for.
Saying that you don't want to see this ever is just silly. Realistically at some point they'll be designing a new engine and the subject of globular mapping will come up, and if it can be easily implemented at that stage, it will be.
