1. Is it worth it to fight and wage wars when you have no leaders?

2. How come some sieges take longer than others (is it only becasue of fortress size?)

3. Is it possible to vassalize a large russia (1575+) ?

1. Yes. Leaders help but you can win wars without leaders.

2. Fortress size, cannons and leaders with siege bonuses affect the length of a siege. Also if a city has a port the siege will take longer.

3. Depends on many factors. You will need to be larger/stronger than Russia to have a chance.

2. Ports can also be blockaded by a sufficiently strong fleet, thus removing the port bonus from the defender.

3. Or force-vassalize in a war. Something given has no value, anyway... ;)

Blockading a province also provides drastically more support for the sieging troops. Sometimes to the point where the defender is suffering attrition but the attacker isn't.

Force vassalise Russia. Their bb is typically so high that your relations will detieriorate too quick to vassalise diplomatically. Besides Russia is a notoriously hard one to get to accept anyway.

Is certainly is. Most nations other than France or Austria and some other majors, are lacking leaders at some point in the game. Unless you have a big advantage like twice as many troops or a terrain bonus that they lack avoid fighting their leaders. Often they will invade with a leader and suffer big attrition until you can annihilate the whole army thus destroying the leader. All cavalry armies are best for this task.
