That is all.

The DLC's and Custodian Initiative keep adding positive one's, but we need more diverse and meaningful negative ones as well. A species is better defined by its weaknesses than its strengths, especially at the beginning of a game.

Or traits with impactful tradeoffs...

Eg:
"social butterfly"
+30% social research bonus
-20% physics
-20% engineering

"Math whiz"
+30% physics
-20% for all others

"Replicators from rock"
+30% engeneering
-20% for all others

As a negative version to intelligent.

Absent minded: Most members of this species although definitely not incapable of higher learning, don't really enjoy doing scientific research in the labs.
-10% research from jobs costing -3 trait points. (-3 as such a reduction in science is quite a big negative, but can be the standard -2)
I think this could easily go hand in hand with a perhaps a Utopian Abundance playstyle, where most of your science comes from unemployed pops.
Or perhaps a Barbaric Despoiler scavenger empire, that use scanning of debris to suplement it's research instead.
This makes Nerve-Stapled free.

Traits with no effect besides negative output to a specific resource are effectively free trait points on every species template not intended to work jobs in that category. Negative traits should be designed to have effects that matter on every colony and most if not all pops in your empire, so they should target things like upkeep, entire job stratums, trade value from living standards, or happiness. Or have effects that apply to the entire colony/empire regardless of their job.

Absent minded: Most members of this species although definitely not incapable of higher learning, don't really enjoy doing single tasks and often let their mind wander.
-10% resources from all jobs costing -3 trait points. (-3 as such a reduction is quite a big negative, but can be the standard -2 or even -4)
I think this could easily go hand in hand with a perhaps a Utopian Abundance playstyle, where most of your science and unity comes from unemployed pops.
Or perhaps a Barbaric Despoiler scavenger empire, that use scanning of debris to suplement it's research and kidnapping other pops for more production.
