Hello,

I was looking at the other bookmarks and I could see some things that just can't happen in the 1444 bookmark (and that happened IRL obviously). For example, Oman, Qatar Portugal in 151x whereas Portugal ingame will never attack these provinces. Same thing with India later, I don't remember see any european country in India.

Other example, Denmark colonies in Africa or West indies whereas ingame they do not have any exploration idea. I mean that when you start at that bookmark they have provinces overseas whereas no colonisator. Do you see what I mean ?

I think it would be nice to have these possibilities in game ! And not necesseraly for these countries, this could be dynamic.

Thank you for reading.

They wont work on later start dates, just keeping them at the current level is a huge amount of work that generally goes to waste, tiny number of people use later start dates and then most of those are for an achievement.

It would be great to have a random generated world at later dates but alas...

I don't know but if Denmark and Sweden had some islands in the Carribean and some other colonies, it could be nice that it'd be implemented.

I was just thinking about that when I saw other bookmarks.

I'm not talking about this. I just think that it would be cool if a game that you start in 1444 could be exactly like reality. Other example, you can see that at some bookmars, Navarra has one province in south of France not even bordered ! It'd be nice if things like that COULD happen in game (not necessarly the sames) because it happened IRL.

It's not possible to do. So many things can change in the games time line that didn't happen historically. Game doesn't cover a lot of the things that happened in reality that allowed alot of things to happen and others are limited. E.g. no point taking colonisation ideas if you wont get the trade value. Then you have AI being unable to do naval invasions with any skill.

I believe the OP means it would be nice for that stuff to happen in the way of DHEs -- meaning, in the right circumstances.
DHEs are used to infuse a game with historical determinism without it actually being deterministic.

That said, unless they would be somewhat more abstract it would be a tad useless. The reason being the longer a game progresses the less chance a DHE has to fire [too many variables might change by then] - that is why one sees the Iberian wedding more than the Burgundian inheritance [which is only ~55 after the start].

Problem is still they don't work well in game. Forcing wars over long distance wont help when the AI can't manage them, or forcing a nation to take colonial ideas to grab provinces that will drain their income and give them next to no benefit. Of course that's even if there's any land left for them!

There may have been a misunderstanding along the way.
That is not how DHEs** work.

It's how a number work, giving you claims that the AI might declare over and manage to do nothing about. And colonisation isn't going to work well without bonuses from the colonisation ideas.

Denmark/Norway could be more eager to pick Exploration. They have decent position for that.

There could be more country specific missions. Like the one Ottomans have. That generally makes AI go in some direction.

More missions in general would be nice, current load are getting a bit boring. Although of course the AI would need to be fixed for Portugal to gain their over seas extensions.

Less country-specific, more "holds territory in area" specific.
