Is it just I, or would it be nice to display what relation you have to your kin more extensively than it does now (first cousin, nephew, nieces, etc etc)? I wouldn't mind seeing a family description as extensive as the picture. It's a bit boring to have your relation to another dynasty member as just 'Kinsman', or nothing at all for non-dynasty members. On the other hand, with a more extensive relation description, you'd be able to see which character your share ties with more easily than now. In a family-based game such as CK2, this would aid immersion.

This is a great idea. I would actually pay for a dynasty/family reworked DLC.

As it is now I have to look up the family three for the character before I hand out titles if it says kinsman. It would be so great to just have it there with a touch on the mouse.

Not too much, I think. Computing whether you're an aunt twice removed/kinswoman to someone, or something like that, would be pretty easy. However, computing this for every dynasty on the map could get pretty heavy.

I reckon it shouldn't be too bad, what with many characters either being lowborn or being one of those auto-generated dynasties. Late game though, I could see the problem.

Sure, there has to be a limit somehow. Instead of numbers, the game could also look at the last common ancester and just display that as an additional character info line. Something like:

"Common Ancestor: King Karl III, your great-grandfather"

Doing it the way the OP suggests presents numerous problems with translations. For example, in English, niece is a daughter of your sister or your brother. In Polish, there's a word for your sister's son and a word for your brother's son. There's none which covers 'niece'.

Doing it the way of last common ancestor would be better.

Disregarding translations, it'd be awesome!

Probably that's why we only have English, German, Spanish and French versions. Especially with examples such as the Polish one. Sometimes it's 2 words for 1 word, sometimes it's the opposite, sometimes they don't actually have a word. No wonder why google translate fails so epically.

Paradox has already solved that problem for niece. And I asusme they are well aware of the problem since Swedish and English too have different subdivisions of family relationships. (We always make a difference between maternal and paternal grandparents.)

This would actually be more useful than more descriptive relation names. OP's suggestion could have some merit for implementation of cadet dynasties. Less closely related, more likely to spawn a cadet branch. In fact, you could just calculate the numerical values and use them as hidden characters. You wouldn't even need to calculate for every character, just for heads of dynasties with dynasties large enough to spawn cadet branches.

Maybe not too related, but wonder if anyone noticed, your grandson (from your daughter's side) wouldn't show as an ally when he takes over another realm? He's not shown in the call to arms alert neither, but you would actually call him to war if you go straight to the diplo screen. He would never call you to arms though (from my experience so far)

Paradox has already solved that problem for niece. And I asusme they are well aware of the problem since Swedish and English too have different subdivisions of family relationships. (We always make a difference between maternal and paternal grandparents.)

Now I wonder why this wasn't used in Polish translation. 'Niece' is always translated as 'Bratanica' (i.e. Brother's daughter)...

I would guess translators who only look at the English words when translating and not the localization keys, combined with nobody at Paradox involved with CK knowing Polish. I have worked with translators myself and know how hard it is to get high quality work from them. Especially when you do not know the language well.

Could you report the bug to Paradox or do they use an external company for the Polish version?
