I've played Stellaris for a few years now and have always enjoyed the wonder of exploring new systems with the ISS Discovery. However, that doesn't mean it can't be more better. I'm not sure we've ever had an update to uncolonizable planets exist beyond toxic worlds being sometimes colonizable. Considering the frequency we see each barren planet even adding a couple of new designs or textures to existing uncolonizable types could really make a significant aesthetic difference and help visually distinguish more systems on larger maps. Could be as mundane as new cloud designs for gas giants, or even just a super cratered planets, though I would love to see things like Hot Jupiters, protoplanetary discs, co-orbital planets or even exotic football shaped planets (they exist! see WASP-103b).

Think this could be a very neat and relatively easy way to inject some new fresh air into the galaxy.
Maybe we can even get a more accurate look into Uranus and Neptune too ;)?

(And yes I am aware of mods that do this, but why deny the base game something cool?)

I told you they exist! Also it just happens that this is a render of Haumea, which is in the game and looks no where as cool as this!

Not only do I agree with this, I want to see it extended to habitable worlds. Allow them to have purely cosmetic variations in appearance (like four or five of each type), and also make it extensible so modders can add in a dozen more ocean planets if they want. Also let this extend to the planetary landscape art.

(My selfish not-so-secret desire is to be able to play the planetary diversity mod one day, but only for its cosmetic additions.)

(Also, add a category of uninhabitable "venerian hell worlds" (extremely hot thanks to a thick CO2 atmosphere) and change Venus from a toxic world to that.)

Would also be awesome if some of the modifiers on planets gave a visual effect.
Such as:
Asteroid belt: Actually has an asteroid belt
Asteroid Impacts: Craters on the surface
And there's probably many more.

Yeah, honestly small things like this would be a nice touch that I feel would help lend to the atmosphere of the game
