Greetings,

First of all, i do prefer high AE malus much more than low AE; however what buggs me is that it will make it nearly "impossible" for you to create something like an "unholy alliance" - instead of forming a mighty alliance with another country to "fight the world", your allies will break their alliance with you quite "soon".
Under circumstances that makes sense, on others that doesnt make sense. Especially if you got different spheres of interest.
Moreover historically "relations" between nations recovered quiet fast. Moreover, even if you have an AE of, lets say 200, if you are the "strongest boy in the hood" it is quite weird if nobody wants to be allied with you. Italy didnt break the alliance with hitler after he, obviously, went over 9000 AE.

Occasionally i even think that AE is still too soft, why on other occasions its way to unrealistic. I think the next major patch or expansion should focus on agressive expansion and diplomacy in a whole and should enable countrys to plan ahead and create strong strategic bonds.

Nations should be able to form "leagues" in addition to coalitions; with the possibility to set spheres of interests.

Moreover nations should be able to "offer" other nations compensation for joining a war or suggest an "allie" to start a war versus a certain country. When suggesting, the suggesting country could set war goals whereas the country that "received" the offer would be able to "aggree" , reject or send a counter proposal.

It would increase the realism of the game by far, since right now players tend to wage wars with allies which result in situations, in which the player blobs while their allies basically stay the same. And if the allies "receive" a province in war, their gratitude for it is way too insignificant.
Moreover, if an war, in which an ally has been promised compensation ends with an peace treaty, in which, despite victory the ally does not receive an compensation, the relations between the allies will crumble and the ally would get a reason for: A: Break alliance and B: Declare war.

Also nations should be possible to send something like an "ultimatum" to other nations. In such "cases" all Powers, that are "friendly" towards the nation receiving an ultimatum and on the same continent, as well as great powers receive the option to "back" the country. If the country does not "obey" the ultimatum, the aggressing nation can either suffer prestige loss or wage war (versus all backers as well). If the ultimatum is accepted, there wont be war but still AE.

Most important however will be that there should be several new ways for countrys to not only increase opinion, but also "diplomatic relations". Country should therefore act more in "strategical" interest than they do right now.

The most important thing to me however is, to "remove" warscore restrictions entirely, like i suggested several times already. Peace treatys that cost 100000 points should be possible, even without cheating; however only if the war capacity of the country is broken and the war exhaustion is maxed. Moreover "offereing" a peace over 100 score should result in the same "searching for backers event" as the ultimatum does. Thus if for instance france wants to "annex" spain, after utterly defeating it, obviously all other Greatpowers will "intervene".
