Hi all,

Just recently started playing the game and enjoying it a lot.

Having said that, as with all of the new-ish games i might be running a bit slow, even though my laptop surpasses the requirements 4-5 times.

I read a mountain of info, disabled page sharing (ram), increased priority, tried even running it on one core (has no difference)

I remember with CK2 or was it EU3 i don't remember there was this trick to apply a map patch that made the colours more like HOI2 (more basic), which a) make it easier to see things, to be honest, b)keeps things old school and c) most importantly - the game starts running a million times faster.

Now that i think about it, it could have been the water that it made basic, i don't know.

I need help, please as well as any other performance advice?

Cheers,

Nik

Turning off advanced water and trees is an option in the in-game graphics set. There might be others in the settings file in your computers documents folder.

Podcat (a moderator here on the forums) released his own version of a 3 or 4 GB patch. The old game can only use the base 2Gb of system RAM, no matter how much you have. The patch (or other more generic ones that do the same thing for any program you select) allows the game to access additional memory.
