I really like how the simulation is going on the broad terms, but I really like to get down and personal with my citizens, so I have a few questions regarding the folks , soon to be , living in our cities:

First, how detailed and varied are the civilian models? I can never tell from the Diaries released, the camera doesn't allow us to zoom in much does it?

Secondly, let's say our Cim has been born and raised in the city, will they be able to move out of their home,, and maybe start their own families or are they stuck in the same home?

Lastly, will we be able to keep tabs on a certain citizen or household, the cities are bound to be huge. What if they move around? I don't want to lose them :(

Thanks guys!

I actually Like this idea, and so what , yeah its not the sims. Dosent mean we have to have no details about the citizens who populate the cities. Ya know people, the biggest factor in cities.

Yeah well name age and job and home is great, so certainly you can keep tabs on them. And they must grow up if age is included. Think of it as a basic form of tropico.

But children of the nile is another favorite game of mine, the kids grow up and move out and get married thus forming another family some have kids. And crist yeah its a city simulator, so it should simulate people in some form.
Not be some twilight zone city like citys XL with no people. Ya that's realistic.

A commodore 64 sim city can simulate traffic , lets put more elements in this 'city simulator' you know the place where people live.

I'm with Leermiester ideas. It doesn't hurt to add detail to the Sims like name, age, job, home and leisure. And why not add a little bit of character while were at it . After all they'll be the ones helping to shape the city with you.

Well, I'm with Garensterz. Some of you need to play a different game. You want to design a (very small) 'city' and have mega-detail about all it's (very limited number of) citizens? Try Banished. Sometimes one game just can't do it all, and your little home computer can only do so much.

Next thing some of you'll be wanting is to know what make and model each vehicle is...

Until I play the game it is hard to comment but based on previous games I personally have zero interest about my CIMS. I never followed SIMS in SC2013. I have no interest in the names and lives of my Banished folk either.

However, some will and I don't see an issue in allowing some form of CIM following if that satisfies a niche group of gamers. I can envisage some gamers doing videos following their fav CIM and posting it on Youtube. I have a word for that but heck, if it grows the fan base who cares.

I'm pro-detail.

Besides the primary home, job, age, education, I'd like them to have as much detail as possible without taking a performance hit. Add moods, hobbies, relationships, and even Sims-'ish features like personal quirks and preferences to the Cims if you can. Micro is just as important as macro to me.

CPUs are only getting more powerful, and my fairly old one currently already surpasses the recommended specs, so bring it on. Maybe in a hypothetical major expansion, or maybe in a super sophisticated mod package.

I read somewhere, maybe from this forum or an article or something somewhere,
A city is about the people living in it, not the buildings that you build.
I went like something like that. I think that the detail for every Cim they have in here is good. This is a city building simulator, so it should simulate building a city, not what I call CXL, a city builder, where you just build a city.

I get it.( I play the sims often by the way) However, it is not like I'm asking for a full on family tree of one Cim and it's family. Some of you might not remember, but in the game City Life you were allowed to make your own citizen (to a very limited extent) and follow them around. They weren't progressing or anything though. Most recently, Simcity 2013 ruined the whole immersion for me once I realized the sims themselves were falsely simulated. It'd just be nice if this game could be the first to give immersion to its inhabitants. Don't get me wrong I like how everyone is born and progresses until a death(or move out). But the other ideas I mentioned would be great to see in action!

Personally I play the game for the challenge of creating a functioning city in my own image. Individual stats on a particular sim has very little impact on the game itself. I get why people would find this interesting but to me this is a game about building a functioning city and the challenges that come with it, not about what an individual sims likes and dislikes are - but to each his own,

I'm not too worried about following individual people as the novelty quickly wears off. Age ranges are good as that makes you think about the different demands on the people living in your city. Apart from that, the only thing I would want is a permanent home and workplace.

That said, I'm all for any game that lets people play in their own way... as long as the processing power is available and as long as we are not forced to micro-manage to be successful at the game.

To be honest with you, your ideas are great and I would too like to see them make it in the game (we might have the perfect city sim). But sometimes we forget that games have their own limits. If they went over it, it becomes way too far out from their genre and most of the time it fails.

And you said you like looking at how the individual citizens are being born, how to live, die etc. Trust me, you wouldn't even give a slightest attention on it ones your city gets huge. So i prefer to a more depth in to politics and citizen demands about the city.

Thanks everyone for your feedback, it really is comforting, even if your don't agree with me. I only have 2 more concers and I'll kill the thread.

1) Does anyone know if the civilians models are detailed or varied? ( I really cannot tell)

2) How much zoom does the camera allow?

For question 2:

We can't zoom into street level, but we can zoom to about as high as a 4 story building or something.
