Morning,

One thing I have noticed watching streams, when an enemy Mech hits Hysteria status and takes a defensive turn a lot of players think it is a bug. If there was a little callout that appeared similar to the 'Unsteady' or '<Location> destroyed' messages that popped up when a enemy Mech takes a defensive turn (sprint away, move and bulwark etc.) it would be give the player some feedback about why that has happened. CohhCarnage has had several badly damaged enemy Mechs take bulwark turns and been really flabbergasted by it.

Edit: Example of what it could say is something like 'Retreating!' or 'Morale Failing'

Just a thought :)

Well, they turn around and fight to the death, so how bad can their morale be. If there was a surrender mechanism it might be different.

this game models morale?

Yes, in two main ways. One is your own pilots morale, which is used as a currency to buy the use of special abilities in combat and also provides a buff to your pilots once it passes a certain level.

However, your enemies are also susceptible to morale. If an enemy unit takes a significant amount of damage (as of the last backer beta) it will spend it's next turn fleeing the situation, usually by moving somewhere out of the way and Guarding. A lot of streamers I have seen have been really confused by the AI taking these actions as currently there is no feedback as to what is going on.

I knew about the special abilities - I was more wondering of pilots could panic, etc
