Dev Diary #37 contained the following quote on Hermetic Society abilities

"Other powers and abilities include attempting to divine the future using Scrying, making Horoscopes for your children, experimenting with drugs and medical techniques, and eventually writing your magnum opus - a book of lore and knowledge that you enshrine for the ages."

The ability to experiment with drugs or ingredients gathered is currently not in game, and is an issue pointed out in several threads in the main forum here and here. I, and other users, have scanned the related expansion decisions and events files and not found any options to use ingredients gathered using the intrigue tab. As we have no ability to discard the ingredients upon acquisition, this could block our ability to trigger other events because we lack treasury space. Thanks!

Yo,

Yeah it's indeed a problem, coming from, as always, time constraints. It's too bad it couldn't make it for release, really, but at least you can rest assured that we've not sweeped that under the rug and we're on it to bring it in the game as it should be.

For now, you can at least enjoy your intestines and snouts collections, and hope the CIA doesn't take that out of context.

btw how much does paradox know about what I do in my game? (standard privacy settings)
I heard you guys know what achievements we earn and what rules we use. paradox mentioned they saw most people play with supernatural on.
since you guys are in a different country my government feels its legal to spy on any information exchanged between us. If I abduct children raise them to be Satanists and make them my concubines does the game keep track of that in the chronicle form that can be viewed by someone outside the computer by spying on what it sends to paradox and steam? or would somebody have to waste all sorts of resources hacking into my computer to learn what I would tell em for free.
Calvin was right I am totally depraved!
so we can expect drugs and experimentation? I was worried you guys gave into censorship and did not want to include that.

I'm gonna point out that things like these are the reason I'm in a love-hate relationship with the CKII dev team.
But I suppose budget constraints are the main evil in this.

I can't really say, one would have to ask the guys at Analytics for that. I don't even know if they are legally allowed to disclosed this sort of information (no, legal & administrative stuff isn't my thing). Generally, I'm fairly certain that if someone outside of PDX wants to access the data collected "like that", it'd be considered illegal.
As for the examples you mentioned, I think they're a bit too specific. We collect this data to see what works and what doesn't, to grossly simplify it, so we'll probably be more interested to know when people join the Hermetics (may indicate it's not joinable or not fun, or not fun enough, for lots of different things really) instead of whether or not there are picking a specific option in an event in a mission in the Hermetics.

I probably made that more confused, ha !

Well, to be fair, *lots* of stuff can already be read and interpreted in numerous different ways...

Necessary evil though, cause if we the Devs were free to do as we pleased, the game would be in production for ever because we'd constantly add some stuff, ha ha.
Honestly as long as we don't end up in a situation like poor KOTOR 2 which had its whole ending cut short, I think we're "fine"-ish, if you get what I mean.

Would it be possible to have a fastpatch/hotfix that comments out the events/decisions in question? Having the buttons and events popping up are a bit annoying given that we now know that they don't lead anywhere.

Alchemy in the Hermetics society will certainly come in a future update then? I was hoping for a system where there could be multiple different potion outcomes and not just having the option between two or three potions. I understand time constraints and hope we will get a fleshed out system in the near future.

I'd love to find a competitor who makes similar games more devoted to history rather than mass-market appeal. Anybody, please let us know if there's a company out there that scratches that itch.

That would depend on what kind or style of both game and history you want.
"Similar" games... mmmm... maybe anything from "AGEod" could be put in that category.
"Longbow Games" style could also be considered "historical", though not as similar as CK2.
And if you're kind of switching to almost completely different styles but not too far away, you have the Nobunaga Ambition and Romance of the 3 kingdoms games.
I think after that, you just get too far from "similar", as in tactical battles like Wargame games (that are alternative scenarios but more or so realistic) or just FPS
or RTS, etc...

So you already know what to do! Where is the CK2 Dev-Team Independence Faction? Would surely get much backers.
I could raise a 50k aggressive german doomstack, its not that far from Berlin to Stockholm. Just callin' me :p;)

Arthur

Arthur,

While I respect that you're being honest about this I have to point out that Alchemy and Gnostics were advertised features that aren't in the DLC at present. That being so, people who bought the DLC on the basis of the Dev Diaries when it was released, expecting those features, will feel aggrieved.

On the other hand, if there had been a Dev Diary before release specifically addressing their absence this would not be an issue because people would be able to make an informed choice.

I realise voicing that isn't going to win me any friends here. :(

Sigurd.
