I have been thinking about getting a new monitor for awhile now. I'm currently running a 3 monitor rig but I ONLY use the center one for gaming and the others as extra if I need to use them. I current monitor is a Samsung syncmaster PX2370. If anyone is familiar with it then they will know that its a very very good monitor for color accuracy (to me anyways). It was also the go to monitor for gaming before the higher refresh rates came about because of the very low input lag and screen refresh rates. I had this monitor for about 6+ years and its never missed a beat but I want something that is 144hz or so and possibly even 1440p. I am also wondering if the 1080p at 24" is good enough or should I just go ahead for the 1440p as I have excess horsepower.
Current rig is:
4670k @ 4.4ghz (overclocking didn't make much difference)
16GB 1866
240 GB samsung evo 840
GTX 1070
I would like to know what monitors you guys use. My dilemma is should I get a 1440p 27"? Is text too small on a 1440p monitor that is only about 24" wide? Would a 27" be too big or cause eye strain? I almost bought a Dell S2716DGR from Best Buy when it was on sale yesterday. Its no longer on sale but I can still price match I think.
I don't play FPS competitively but I have owned a 144hz monitor before but returned it because the image quality was awful and hard on the eyes after "calibrating" it. I miss how fluid it was but havent really shopped around since then. Any help is appreciated.
