I'm the Kingdom of Germany, Bohemia, and Poland in my game, played with whichever beta patch was out by Nov. 11, 2005. I've stayed with that one because I'm doing an AAR.

Anyway, it's 1278 and the Mongols are about to drive me nuts. The Il-Khans have a single-province thick line that touches my border in northern Europe, and the Golden Horde has conquered all of Russia, so I border both Mongol nations. Obviously, I don't get a moment's peace.

I can't keep fighting one then the other, or both at the same time with no time to reinforce my troops! Are there any events to break up the Mongols or slow them down or kill some of their troops or something? Whether from this patch or any of the ones that've come out afterwards that I can snag, anything!

there's a mongol withdrawal event , but you've probably missed it.
otherwise, "pagans are splintered"; but that won't save your vassals.
I've white peaced them before. but only after I have made them bleed.

not all is lost though. the GH and Ilkhans do like to fight eachother. maybe that'll happen.

anyhow, its always an interesting and fun situation. not sure how you are fighting them.

one tip: are you landing troops behind their lines in the Baltic? if not, start. generally think broad fronts using small army groups (<10k each) , avoiding pitched battles with the main stacks and focussing on counterseiging/countermarching in as many enemy provinces as possible.

sometimes its just a war of attrition and takes some time.

A war of attrition aganst mongols, is not a war you can win ;)
