I have a problem with the japanese stockpiles as I can't find any source on how big they where in 1939.
I will raise them to similar levels as the German ones which would mean energy 5000, metals 10000, rares 6000 and oil 5000.
Of course this is a bit favorable to Japan.

All right Andrew, was overreacting a bit.
I just have a slight problem with paradox overall scenario design policy.
A lot of ahistorical things (italian techteams, french army...) were included to just make the nations behave somewhat historical. Of course all goes broke if ahistorical things happen.
I think giving the nations a startposition according to their 1939 capabilities would have also worked,
especially regarding situations like an early soviet entry into the war discussed earlier.
But promise to leave further edits to scenario designers. ;)

Well yes, the game has been tested - I was one of the testers . I am playing Germany in two other MP campaigns (Sat and Fri) and am having no difficulty in getting the resources that I want - I am trading for them. Given the house rules about trade in this game, the needed trades should be even easier.

I agree that the resource problem is less of an issue for Germany. I think Japan and Italy are harder hit by it. I think the major difference here is the scenario choice. I find the 39 having a better balance, and prevents many issues then a 'historical' 36 game. The SU starts out in a bit of chaos, so wont be DOWing anyone to soon, until after there is a strong Germany at his borders and there are less issues of people incidentaly firing up WW2 before they are ready (the amount of Italies I trashed playing UK after an early attack on yugo or Spain is uncountable :D ).

It's allways a tricky discussion to start about how accurate the representation of a country is considering their historical counterparts. In my opinion, the balances are fairly accurate in 39 campaing. The campaign in China was costing the Japanese economy a lot of resources, which in the end led to the campaign of conquest in SE-Asia, and Hitlers Germany was beginning to starve from it's rearmament and social policies, so had to start wars of conquest to maintain those programs.

Giving me the same amount as Germany, helps me a lot more than I expected. It might be too late, but, also listening to the opinion of the experienced players, I don't mind starting with the original amounts.

Nice session after some initial problems. :D
Only Krosh didn't show up (apart from Wilhelm which was expected), while Wishing_Well was subbing France.
The game was very stable but Serus and Foxhound had problems with their connection, so we had to kick Serus.
Might have to do the same with Foxhound if it's just as bad next time.

The Axis is making good process thanks to strong performances by Germany and Japan (and Serus's problems playing Nat. China). Lost a bit control of my italian empire but was able to bind some french units and handle my resource problems.

Incidents that I noted:

* the RAF attacked shipping near the German coast and the Luftwaffe responded with air patrols.

* Poland fell in about 2 weeks - a well conducted German offensive

* Italy took Malta and punished RN incursions into the central Med with its bombers, sinking several submarines, the carrier Glorious and a battleship.

* Italy invaded southern France and then Germany broke through the Maginot line and pushed straight for Paris. The French forces are fighting between these two pincers.

* British forces in Egypt advanced rapidly into Libya and have almost reached Tripoli against negligible opposition. British forces closing the ring on Ethiopia are meeting more resistance but the encircled Italian forces seem doomed.

I didn't like the save file which we used to start the game with amended Axis stockpiles. The AI had been given command of the other countries and so the starting position was not as I expected. In particular, I think some of my leaders have been promoted by the AI. In future, I shall be quite hostile to use of such mods. Better the devil you know than the devil you don't.

A bit too late - but if you're going to play another game in this timeframe soon I'd like to join you.
Would prefer a minor anyway as I've never played MP before.

If you've never played MP before then please try some pick-up play in V-Net before joining an organised game. That way, you'll find out if there are any problems with your configuration and connection and you won't upset the other players.

To do this, just click the Valkyrie-Net button and look for a game in the HoI channel and try to join it. If you say that you're new then people may help you out with advice. And then you'll know the basics when another organised game gets started.

Nationalist China is up for grabs. and one or two of the others have not subscribed to this thread.

As for last night, I guess it was likely that we would have teething problems; but the core of us appear to have stable connections.

I thought the game was just warming up nicely, and I'm looking forward to next week :) Even if I am watching the current action from afar; but remember Japan I am watching. ;)

Thanks all.

Good game so far, and hopefully next monday we will be able to run the session smoother.

As for the initial set up: I was a bit surprised as well by some changes, but perhaps it has been discussed in earlier threads. I havent been able to reach the forum lately on a regular basis. As SU I didnt have much problems with it, as I dont start at war, and I totally reorganise my army from scratch anyway.

For a potential next game I would suggest getting a new thread, where country line up, times rules and any potential changes are summarised before the start of the game.

Well i think any changes other than the stockpiles were done by the AI. I noticed several germna leaders had been promoted and some ministers switched. Also the research teams had already been assigned (oddly it was elmost exactly assignment I would have done so maybe the AI isn't as bad with research as I thought.)

Italy did an excellent job destabilizing the French an helping in Yugo. I look forward to our next game.

Serus, have you had any luck trying to fix your problem. Have you tried another game in Vnet? or elsewhere.

I could try what you propose but I am a novice to online mp gaming so won't be much help in diagnosing the problem. Yet if you just want somebody to host a fault finding mission then send me a privat message. I will be available Friday and Sunday 1800 hrs gmt.

Good luck in fixing it.
