My speed is 288 up/576 down. My PC is 2 GHz with 512 Mb of RAM. It could handle a game played at Slow speed (which is about right for 39 when there's lots of fighting) but would probably lag at faster speeds.

Andrew

P.S. Valentine's Day was created in 498 AD, superseding earlier Roman and Greek fertility rituals such as Lupercullus. All the americans have done is commercialise it. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valentine's_Day

P.P.S. We might get started today if we have players for UK, France, Germany, China and Japan - the main warring nations. The Soviet Union and Italy are neutral and might be expected to join the war later. But what we're mainly missing is Germany. I can play that country if no-one else wants the hot-seat.

sorry Andrew, I'll keep the starting date as 21th feb.
I don't want to change this on the day of the session to allow
people to plan their evening beforehand.

simplified the rules abit
please note that I removed some of the restrictions on
anglosaxon nations while making a new trade-rule for the USSR
Soviet options seemed a bit too much before ;)

I decided against techrestrictions as the gap between fast researchers
and slow researchers seems very small in HOI2MP at the moment

would like to hear your comments on this :)

I'm ok with the new time.
I'm all for the simplest rules that do the job, and am in the let them research what they want school, as this could provide some interesting clash of doctrines.

Would the US joins war rule include a launched Sea-Lion op?

Thanks to Kyril and Col Warden for volunteering to host! :)
As Kyril's system is slightly better he will be our first host
and Warden take over if Kyril is not available.

Also thanks Col Warden for offering take over Germany but as we
only start next week I think we still get someone for all remaining majors.
Also the UK isn't the quietest spot in HOI2, so I think you're fine
were you are now. :)

Hi guys,

if it is possible I would like to join as well. I don't have experience in MP, like others here, but one has to start somewhere. If I'm accepted I would like to play Japan. I will get icq later today or tomorrow.

might be interested

not a very experienced HOi player.
A quick look at Hoi 1 and in middle of a SU campaign with Hoi2 SP.
Not a lot of Xp with MP either but been wargaming RPG since young so OK with using house rules group manners etc.

The times are fine.

Looks like you need someone to do the honourable thing and play Japan?

before we start think we should all have a copy of agreed house rules ?

Assuming I'm in that is.

I'm a little surprised by having no takers for Germany.
Was wondering what speed its going to be played at?

I am fairly experienced paradox gamer an wouldn't mind taking the role of Germany. I have played 6 or 7 campaigns of HOI2 SP but no MP yet. I cannot promise I will be great, as I like to stay fairly historical and not "game the system". But, I should be adequate (i.e. have all 39 techs researched by wars outbreak, + a few 40s about 6HQ/Panzerarmee and around 75INF with a solid kriegesmarine and maybe 20-30 aircraft).

i am also curious what speed I assume normal or above normal?

This is a 39 campaign, not 36, as you seem to assume. Can you handle that much historicity?

I am fine with 39 lol...must have just misread i thought I saw 36. Oh well... Anyway I will be fine with Germany in 39 (Much better leader setup for one :)), although i would like an extended pause at start of game to get things organized. I really really really wish the 39 scenario started out on August 1st so you could get your armies organized how you want them. 39 is probably better for MP anyway.

Bear in mind that this is a multiplayer game. The other players would be able to use that peace time to get organised too. So it should even out. Myself, I usually find it easy to get the land units reorganised fairly quickly. It's the air units that are more of a nuisance as the mixed Luftflotte in 39 don't really fit the game mechnics.

Well I think it would be nice for all players, it is defintely most annoying for Japan and Germany as they are in the middle of a fight and have hostiles on their borders. Just a few minute pause on the first (combined with very slow speed) and a few minute pause on the 7th or 10th or so should be enough to get it organized and get leaders assigned. Once things are all sorted out then things shoudl proceed as normal.

My name is added in the first post, so I assume I'm accepted. Thanks for that. I installed icq and my number is 299-381-691.

I agree with Becephalus and being the Japan player I would like to have a (short) pause when starting to sort some things out. I also have a couple of questions. There's nothing in the houserules and I'm not experienced enough in MP to judge it well, but can the SU and the USA deny Japan trades? In the '39 scenario Japan hardly has a stockpile of anything really. I'm not sure if the Netherlands and the low efficiency trades with Germany and Italy can keep my economy afloat. And can the SU (Krosh) dow me whenever he feels like it?
